Marie,

One good thread is subject: " OXALATES " started by Suze Fisher on Oct. 11.

's search function sucks big time.

I'll say it again: Ahhh...the miracle of gmail. If anyone likes

web-based email, gmail is AMAZING in that you can google search your

messages, you get tons of space (1000 MB) and threads stay threaded!

Oh, and it's free (but you have to be " invited " to join--ask me and I

can " invite " five of you today) Initially, I opened the account JUST

for this list, but now I use it for everything.

Hi, ,

Does it work on a Mac? If it does, I'd love to be invited!

Thanks,

I'm interested... how does gmail work? I would love to be able to search

through things like that!

Excellent! Just what I needed to know. I agree that 's groups

search engine is extremely limited as to be of little use.

I do like my gmail too. I started using it for one of my lists, then

just recently added a second. These were lists that I received

previously as digest thus didn't know what was in them and was less

inclined to open them. Now, I know what's in them before I open them.

If not interested, I can discard or archive. I love it. I agree.

It's important for me to have a reliable place for all my important

health-related research. I love my gmail. Even though there are

those who feel otherwise (www.gmail-is-too-creepy.com).

I'm going to go do some reading on oxalates. I have concerns about

it. I avoid most spinach. It's the uncomfortable fuzzy feeling on the

teeth. I guess that indicates a breakdown of calcium. Probably not a

good thing. I thought adding acid helps to ameliorate that(?). I

pretty much try to avoid high oxalic foods. My organic farmer brings

erbette chard to market which is very low oxalic, lower than regular

chard which is generally lower than most market spinach. I bought

some New Brunswick spinach (if I recall correctly) recently from

another organic farmer, Heirloom Organics (I call them " the girls "

because they're all such cute nubile young ladies). Anyway, this New

Brunswick was very low oxalic. I tasted it raw. Not bad. Oooooh.

Oops. Yes, I did notice a tad but it was low and we never have

spinach anymore and my hubby likes it, so we have been enjoying it in

bits.

Anyway, enough of my loquaciousnes. I'll go get caught up on some

reading and take care of some other business and check back in soon.

Thanks for the pointer...

Gmail gives you a web-based email account, like does but gives

you 10 times the space, 1GB, which is enough to last a very, very busy

e-mailer at least 5 or 10 years, I don't know.

Anyway, things I like about gmail:

- One line per subject header. When you open a thread, it will open to

the place in the conversation you have not seen before and show all

the emails forward. It also tabs behind the top page, all the

previous conversations in that thread, even if you've archived them,

they will handily appear when the subject header comes up again.

- It gives the gmail user the power of Google within their own email

archive. Gone are folders. Not required. Too limiting. Instead,

you can label an email if you wish, you can even give it any number of

labels. That is a cool and handy feature.

- If your computer crashes, you won't lose this email. It's saved at

Google and is available to you when you go online. That is either

good or bad but I think it's great. I won't lose important research

I've dug up anymore. I'm very happy with this feature.
