we had went to her and stopped also due to so expensive. do you think she did great things for him? I had heard she was wonderful but we chased yeast for a very expensive year. I'm looking into genesis center with naturopath that was mentioned on here.

Question re Pediatricians and Autism

Since my eleven year-old son was diagnosed at eighteen months we have seen Dr. son, a developmental pediatrician, in Smyrna. Since my insurance plan did not cover autism we always paid her out of pocket, eve though she is very expensive. We always seemed to manage it though we gave up things in order to do it. With the hard times it has really gotten more difficult to afford her, though.

Does anyone know of any pediatricians in the Atlanta area with autism knowledge that might take Medicaid or at least have reasonable fees that would be more affordable? Dr. son currently sees my son once a quarter and maintains meds like clonidine and lamictal for his behaviors. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My 3 year old son has been seeing Dr. Sloan at the Genesis Center for almost 2 years...he is fabulous and has changed our lives! I would HIGHLY recommend anyone with a child on the spectrum to see him...my son is a different child now thanks to Dr. Sloan :) His rates are reasonable and he is worth every penny!

I personally have had a horrible time locating anyone. I have only found 2

places that work w/Medicaid Dr. Rubin through CHOA and The Marcus Institute. I

just got Dr. son's name from a friend recently. We were told by Marcu

Insititute that there was a serious drop int heir doctors, and have gone from

over 5 to 1. I can't afford anything out of pocket myself. I had heard another

name too, but I can't remember his name. I think it's one of those, depends on

your medicaid facilities and we were the wrong kind.

I have had good success with Dr. Grace in Suwanee. She is a licensed Children Pyschologist. She is a wonderful person and great with kids!! She works with kids with all sorts of disabilites; including, autism and ADHD. I believe she takes Medicaid, but you will need to confirm it with her. We drive 45 minutes each way, but it's so worth it! Good luck with your search.
