Guest guest
I was wondering what you all think about raw organic agave nectar as an alternative to raw honey? I noticed it at my local Co-op today. Also, I have been buying, for a long time, a product called Raw Wheat Free Crusts. They are made by Mauk Family Farms. The ingredients are Natural golden and brown flax seed, natural sesame seed, natural sunflower seed, purified water, garlic, onion, celery seed, red bell pepper, parsley, sea salt and pepper. On the box it states: All seeds have been germinated. Dehydrated at 105 degrees thereby preserving enzymes and oxygen. My son loves these, they are delicious with cheese or whatever. Have any of you used these or have any information (good or bad) on this product? Thanks a million, Kim
Guest guest
Agave nectar is 90% fructose - so no good. The crusts sound great though. It's derived from cactus fruit and has a low glycemic impact. Granted, it doesn't have the microbial benefits of honey, but I never understood it to be a bad sweetener..... --s
Guest guest
Fructose is a much more dangerous sweetener than glucose. There's an article by Bill Sanda on the WAPF website on the dangers of it. He's talking particulraly about high fructose corn syrup, but also covers fructose generally. Although agave isn't mentioned specifically anywhere, the fact that's it's 90% fructose seems bad to me. The GI of a food is only one aspect of it. http://www.westonaprice.org/modernfood/highfructose.html Deb -----Original Message----- From: Suzanne Noakes ----- Original Message ----- From: " Deb & Ian " > Agave nectar is 90% fructose - so no good. > Why is agave nectar no good?
