Guest guest
Well, Judy, sometimes it takes time. I grew up eating beef and chicken livers. It wasn't really a problem for me to try the occaisional brain or sweatbread, heart or tongue (the latter two, by the way are very good. I think of tongue as nature's pre-made meatloaf). Other foods took me some years to overcome. It was a good three years and several false starts before I could really bring myself to eat insects. However, once I tried it and found that it was just another food, it became easier to do the next time. You also need to constantly remind yourself that " gross " is, for the most part, a cultural thing. Now, as long as it doesn't smell too bad, I can bring myself to try (and often enjoy) a great many not-commonly-american foods. HAH! See, now that's my problem with eating liver. MFJ Everything connects. The Universe is not THAT chaotic. Beauty can still be found in the most amazing places. Guest guest
Geoffrey, I think it's great you're so adventurous. I'm trying to get as brave as you are. I simply must know.....where do you get insects from? Which ones do you eat? Now that would really make me squirm. Dawn > Well, Judy, sometimes it takes time. Guest guest
I forgot to add that I think Geoffrey is right in saying it's cultural conditioning. Today, I was sure my 11-month-old was going to turn up her nose at the fermented dosas made with red rice (which has a very unusual flavour), but she kept coming back for more. It would all be so much easier if we were clean slates like babies are. Dawn > Well, Judy, sometimes it takes time. I grew up eating beef and > chicken livers.
