Guest guest
I've gotten all but my youngest son's results back from enterolab. My husband and DS6 I just had tested for gluten (gliadin). Enterolab's normal range is below 10 units. DH is 52 and DS is 27. I tested myself for several things, including the gliadin and casein. My antigliadin is 51 (ironically lower than my husband!) and even more depressing, my anti-casein is 68 (with normal being below 10). :-( How am I supposed to drink tea without milk? So, we will be going GF over the next few weeks - but first I must pig out on all the things I will miss like NY style pizza! Anyone want about 20 boxes of different shaped pastas? LOL. Hi Steph Well, it's good news that now you can proceed on the path to good health. :-( How am I supposed to drink tea > without milk? > Work up to it gradually. Believe me, one day you won't be able to drink tea with milk! Start making it weak with very little milk and gradually cut out the milk altogether so you have just black tea. It's much more refreshing. And can also be drunk cold, unlike milky tea. A feeling of loss is very normal and lots of people find the Kuhbler-Ross stages of grief to be helpful in putting their feelings in context. > I tested myself for several things, including the gliadin and casein. My antigliadin is 51 (ironically lower than my husband!) FWIU, the numbers aren't significant past the fact that there is a presence of anti-bodies. There doesn't seem to be a direct correlation between the number and the symptoms, but this is largely an anecdotal observation and I could be mistaken. and even more depressing, my anti-casein is 68 (with normal being below 10). :-( How am I supposed to drink tea without milk? > Hugs! I am just now getting a handle on going GF - found that someone I know is GF and talked with her. That helped a ton! She gave me lots of ideas and hope. It even seems to me that being GF is simpler than using soaked grains which require planning days in advance - I've had 5 buckets of wheat sitting in my garage for a year which I've hardly touched b/c of the amount of planning involved! I was having a very hard time before talking with my friend. Having to give up dairy is bowling me over right now. That's much bigger than gluten, I think, b/c of kefir, butter, ice cream, cheese, etc. " > I tested myself for several things, including the gliadin and casein. " ~~~~ Actually, that's what Dr. Fine's site says. If my immune system is more shot then my body may not be making as many antibodies. I also did the gene test, and my particular gene means that I'm more likely to have severe reactions. Mabye that explains why my husband doesn't seem gluten intolerant, and I have a whole list of symptoms! Would coconut milk work? --s " ~~~~ Could you tell me what you did with your boys? I know you've mentioned recently that you limited their food for a year or so. What exactly did you do other than coconut milk kefir? And someone said making kefir with coconut milk is more exact - like you have to catch it at just the right time - has that been your experience? I don't want to give up my kefir that I just discovered. Steph :-)
