Guest guest
I think it is sad that Al started to regain weight....BUT....HOORAY for him that he is trying to nip it in the bud NOW. He regained around 40 pounds from his bottom weight....being DSers we are NOT immune from that happening to us. Some weight regain is expected with ALL the surgeries. We do, happily, have better stats (yea!). Our stats for regain are 10-20%...that means a 10-20 pound re-gain for every 100 pounds lost. So a 40 pound regain can very easily happen to many of us. Stick to the basics...lead with protein, don't drink calories, take your supplements and exercise....FOR LIFE! As for THE LOOK...lol...I have said I can spot a 6 mo wls patient easily...Because of THE LOOK. However, I call it the Shrunken Head Syndrome. The smaller head just doesn't fit the body it sits upon for a period of time. I think " we " also get that look during the rapid weight loss period, just not quite as dramatic. For me the big difference in LOOKS come after the surge of weight-loss has ended. I have notice a yellow tinged, pale/pastey look to several RNYers skin tone. A dullness in the eyes. It always prompts me to ask how they are taking their b12 (pill, sub-lingual or shots) and if they are taking Iron and doing their labs...which I then Kinda, sorta push that they do...You know me, I'm very quite on the subject of supplements and lab work.
