Guest guest
I know that you didn't mean to send the email but, I'm glad that you did because this is my latest pet peeve. The only crop that is guaranteed to be GMO free is wheat. The bad thing is that the wheat is milled on the same machines that mill GMO soybeans. So, by the time the milled wheat is shipped to our reliable sources, it is contaminated. Corn pollen can travel 1,000 miles. Soy less than that. Not sure about the other crops. These GMO crops are contaminating the foods that we are growing and the grass our animals are eating. Anything that is manmade, is going to contaminate our bodies and make us sick!!!!! There is no question about that. Certified Organic does not mean that there isn't any GMO's in the foods. Unless the foods have been genetically tested (and the companies have to be willing to do that), chances are, there are some GMO's. And we wonder why we are such a sick nation....we can onl y blame our government for supporting Monsanto and other corporations like them! There are some stores that will guarantee that their foods are GMO free. www.nongmoproject.org has a list of those stores. Just my .02. This is a serious issue and, since we all want to eat as healthy as possible (otherwise why would we be drinking raw milk?), we should all be very concerned!!!!!! Guest guest
We have been aware of this and have our local feed mill make up a special feed for us. It is a custom mix and has been working well for us since Jan. of this year. It contains no soy or corn. Rhonda Shaul Cranberry Ridge Farm Re: corn and soy ??!!!!!! Guest guest
That is awesome!! I am sure that a lot of the farms are aware of it. I just wish that the consumer were aware of it... Guest guest
--Taaron, Can you please post your grain mixture? I've been working hard to stay away from Soy, but find it hard not to use corn in my feed mix. Guest guest
Sorry about that. My question should have been addressed to Rhonda. I better learn to read closer. Anyway any help with healthy feed mixes would be appreciated. Deb -- In RawDairy , Rhonda Shaul wrote: > > We have been aware of this and have our local feed mill make up a special feed for us. Taaron, You and I are both " manmade " .You don't understand what GM is.It shortens the time it takes for nature to change things. Instead of 10 years to get that crop with the genes you are looking for, they can PUT the gene in and get the crop in 2 -3 years. Even with cows and goats, if you use AI you LOOK for the best genes for your herd. If you would look at more than NO-GM sites you could learn a great deal. Chevy never advertises for Fords. Guest guest
Nora, When does the fish gene end up in a tomato, or the human gene end up in rice if man isn't messing around in a lab? That big lie, that it just speeds up the natural system, has been bantied about by the big $ corporations to try to fool the people. Obviously it worked on some. Please tell me how plant, animal, bacteria, and other genes are going to end up in my cattle because I select a bull from a good cow to pass on those traits I want. Or how animal genes will end up in the plants without some money hungary mad scientist putting them there. Cheyenne
