Give me the exact location of these boars. I've been hungry for natural pork....if there's that many that can cause this huge of a problem, we can all be set for at least a year! Empty your freezers!!!!!! ;) Then again, it's California. When we lived there, I coudn't even shoot the skunk that was making life miserable, living under my deck. Had to invite it in, give it its own room, a college education.....

Yea, I heard this morning that now they are trying to blame WILD BOARS

in Cali for the contamination. Sounds like a cop-out to me that could

end up biting real hog farmers in the ...

Hey Sharon. In our area those boars are open season 12 months of the year. Another reason for you and Wren to come and visit.

Debbie....How cool is that???? Now, what do we do about hunting rifles? I'm trying to remember what Canadian law is...you can't have personal firearms, but I'm assuming you are permitted to license hunting rifles? My wrestling-wild-boars-to-the-ground skills are a bit rusty. ;) I had wild boar one time and it was quite good - not a bit like industrialized, factory-farmed pig.

I know people in Canada that have legal firearms. Maybe they are all

rifles and shotguns though, I don't specifically remember hand guns.

As for the wild boar, here in Wisconsin, if you are a licsensed

hunter and you happen to have a firearm with you - You are REQUIRED

to shoot any wild boars. But, you do have to be careful it's not an

escapee from any local pig farms or you'll have to reimburse the

owner. To me, it is quiet easy to tell the difference though.

As for the taste, have you tried small-farm, outdoor raised all-

natural pork? It also tastes NOTHING like what you buy in the store.

Same with the meat from any animal that was not raised in confinement

and atleast allowed outside.

Oh Sharon cannot you just imagine yourself as Sharon of the Jungle? Seriously though to go hunting up here you have to complete a safety course and borrow a registered gun and hunt with the person you borrow it from. Three of our children just did that this fall and all got 100%. Instructor was impressed. Then you buy a license for hunting. Each animal has a bag limit etc. To own a gun you have to have another certificate. That means another course and you apply. If they find you "suitable" and over the age of majority, 18, then you get to own your own gun ie. hunting gun. If you want something like a handgun that is restricted there are other rules. Doesn't stop the criminals though.

As far as wild boar I don't think you have to have a license as there is no season. They see them as nuisance animals.
