in the same ball park as I am? I can actually have such a blast of

energy to do a karate class(1-11/2 hrs. of INTENSE physical

training);and then be a limp dishcloth in agony, another day? So tired

that my eyes close while reading?

One thing I must admit;I am NOT superman in my class by any means. When

my hands(My worst tissue damage so far)are swollen and red and blue;I

do have to back off certain exercises a bit.

I believe one reason that I am able to DO these Martial Arts classes Is

because of the power of the mind...I LOVE doing them. My mind is

stronger than ever now,and I WILL NOT GIVE IT UP.

Any feedback will be VERY appreciated!!

Sincerely;Bram.

You might not want to hear this... and I DO believe in the power of the mind,

also, but... I used to do Tae-Bo (I know it's not the same, but a lot of kicking

and punching involved). Physcially, it was the best I've ever felt and I so

enjoyed it. But it got to where it was too hard on my knees, shoulder and hips.

I had to quit. One doctor told me at first it was great that I was doing it,

another said it wasn't a good idea in someone w/any type of RA.

Anyway, over the last few years, whenever I attempt to do anything physical

for an hour or two, I pay for it big time for days, even up to a week. I hate

that part, I'm too young to feel that old, but there it is. But I've learned

that the pain and fatigue just aren't worth it since I have children to tend to.

I joke around that I'm only 37 but feel 87, but in reality, that's really how I

feel.

I'm sure your situation's not the same... but that's my feedback...

Take care of you,

Gail

Hi,

Gail, I have to agree.

I am 34 and feel like I am 84.

Since I have a very active three year old, I have to

utilize my resources carefully and try to do stuff

with her.

I have wanted to go to the gym since dec but being in

a middle of a never ending flare, I just can't.

My mother keeps bugging me about how good it would be

for me mentally.

No kidding! She just doesn't understand the tiredness

associated with the disease/flare.

I don't know about the karate, each of us handle

things differently.

Bram,

I totally know where you are coming from. One day I will walk for 30

minutes and feel great, no after effects, a week later, 3 laps or 10 minutes

is enough to send me to bed for days. I have asked my doctor numerous times

and he just shakes his head. No one has been able to explain it. Right now

I have been riding my exercise bike for 10-15 minutes a day. I started with

5 like they said I should and built up. No matter, on the days I do this, I

fall asleep sitting up in my chair not for 10 or 15 minutes, but 4 or 6

hrs!! Then sleep an additional 10-11 at night. And yes, I feel like crap

too. I totally don't understand it, and as yet cannot predict which outcome

I will have.
