Hi everyone. Took my son Ethan (4) to the dentist last wek for a check up and

we got HORRIBLE news! So bad, I'm embarassed to tell! He's going to have to

be IV sedated for all the work that needs to be done. The doc claims it's all

the medicine Ethan's on and it's eating away his enamel. Has anyone else had

this problem? If so, was the work done at the office or hospital and what can I

expect with IV sedation?? I'm a nervous wreck and so scared. Advice, please!!

Thanks!

K (mommy to Ethan 4, w/pmg s/p stroke , etc and bad, bad teeth :(

(13 years old on Wednesday) has had some work done with IV

sedation and it was great for her and for everyone else. It wasn't

traumatizing to her and I didn't have to hold her down with her

screaming her head off. It was done in a hospital setting so her

vitals could be monitored and proper measures could be taken just in

case something happened. If you have the option of doing it with IV

sedation, I would go for it. We have also had work done with

Versed.....she was awake but very out of it....that was another good

option for us.

Hi,

my son Timon (7) has his first IV sedation when he was 3. Here in

Germany we have special children dentist . Who work together with an

anestetic and they do it at the dentist. Worked without any further

issues. He again has to have a lot done on his teeth and we will have a

IV sedation comming friday. This way the dentist can take here time

making x-rays etc. without Timon realizing he has his mouth open for

about 2 hours. The other problem Timon has is that he can not open his

mouth properly so the dentist can not see his teeth all the way back (

nor can I brush them properly ) and under IV sedation she can open his

mouth much further.

Good luck,

Bianca
