Guest guest
Organic foods are grown on farms that do not use chemicals on the soil, on the plants or on the harvested products. Why do I [Dr. Crook] recommend such foods? I'm deeply concerned about the pesticides. Pesticides make millions of people sick. Elson M. Haas, M.D., author of The Staying Healthy Shopper's Guide, lists eight ways of " minimizing pesticides in your food. " Here are several of them: -Limit use of out-of-season imported produce -Wash, soak and peel conventionally grown fruits and vegetables -Limit your intake of red meats and factory-farmed poultry -Limit your intake of fish known to be caught from polluted waters -Try emphasizing fruits and vegetables that can be peeled or those tha have been found to have low residues.
