Hello Sunil,

U r mails,be assured, r well read and passed on to ur dear friend Kiran, on a

regular basis and also that of Dr.V.K.Gupta.

When I met Kiran last week and told him about ur group's days at GMC,I found him

slipping into nostalgia, as he vividly recollected those lovely days.

Nowadays, with Gopa and his son, mostly based in India,I am sure he must be

longing for those days.

We hope to have Gopa here in a fortnight and I hope to persuade her atleast to

write regularly,on this site.

Although, she never has missed any opportunity,to tell us all about her BINDAAS

days, and we all have, often had laughter filled afternoons, when she got around

telling tales.

Bhutan, looks to be a very wonderful starter.

The only few things I am aware,is ....a)Sadly,it is one of the two remaining

poorest Hindu Kingdoms in the world. The other one being Nepal

b)It has only about 50 cars on it's roads.

c) and about 11kms of driveable roads.

If u could take us on a etour,we would love it and maybe,we may end up touring

that unknown country,someday soon.

Hi there

It seems that a lot of my notes have not taken on in this room........don't

now the reason there-of.

In case this also does not materialize.........I will have to look at other

avenues.

It was with some trepidation that I noted the discussion heating up on

various issues like religion, caste, politics etc.I beleive that it is the heat at

the moment ...of the season, that is perhaps responsible for the max

damage...........

Why not plunge off to some cooler locales & just give it some " Thande ka

Tarka..... "

We have seen a lot of discussions about places like Goa, malaysia...etc.etc.

Why not have a look at some other exotic & cooler locales which are located bang

next door. I am one for travelling around and have been around the country quite

a lot..........Any-one been to " Bhutan " .....for starters

Let's hear

Dear Shyam

I hope that we can clear clear some misconceptions about Bhutan

It has more Toyotas on it's roads than u will see the other cars.....

The country boasts of pot-hole free roads.no exaggerations........and they are

not only 11 km in length..........

It has an un-spoilt beauty which u can only dream of otherwise....

Its culture is really worth delvng into.........

Why not discuss more on these issues.........!!!!!!!!!!

Any takers..????????

Well, I would love to discuss more about Bhutan

well, the facts presented were not entirely correct.... Bhutan is a

kingdom... but its not a " hindu " kingdom. The form of government is

" constitutional monarchy " and most of the people in Bhutan follow

Tibetian Buddhism. Most Bhutanese follow either the Drukpa Kagyu or

the Nyingmapa school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Bhutan had problems with a large scale immigration from Nepal and upto

a certain time point, Nepalese was also taught in most of the schools

in Bhutan. The King of Bhutan then started a movement to preserve the

culture of the kingdom... so the government implemented the

controversial programme where Dzongkha was the only official language

taught in schools.. also it was made mandatory for all Bhutanese

people to wear their traditional outfits in public....

Bhutan was recently featured in Aparna Sen's movie " 15 Park avenue "

(by the way, someone explain the movie to me)

Well, I have obtained most of the information here from wikipedia ( I

acknowledge here, else they will blame me like poor ol' Kavya)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhutan

Sunil Sir, enjoy your trip to Bhutan and click photos for us.. so, isi

bahane, humari trip bhi ho jayegi....!!!

cheers
