Guest guest
First of all I would go to the doctor. Just in case it is more than you think, BREATHING THAT BAD IS NOT GOOD. I use mucinex daily it is truly a big help,I can tell when I don't use it. I also drink hot tea , honey and lemon to help when I don't feel well Sharon GoGo away, before I drop a house on you!!!! Guest guest
My asthma is usually like that too. Maybe you need to ask your doctor about being on a preventative for cold and flu season if that is your major trigger. Other suggestions that I have heard and am trying to do are: wash your hands often & /or use hand sanitizer clean the doorknobs, phones, desk surfaces at work/in public places since the germs hang around for a couple of days or longer in some cases stay away from people who are sick ....or those who claim that they aren't sick because it's just allergies (hmm... but the whole office caught your " allergies " just a short time later) take allergy medicine, if allergies are a trigger for you cut down or cut out dairy because it can aggravate congestion use the peak flow meter all the time, not just when you are feeling bad use a spacer with your inhaler(s) because it helps you get more medicine deeper into the lungs trust your own judgement, you know when you are feeling bad and need more help with your symptoms > I don't take anything for daily control, I just have the Albuterol > becasue typically ( & thankfully) I only need it 1 - 2 times a month. > But I caught a cold recently and I can't go 2 hours or walk up a > flight of stairs without having an attack. Guest guest
Kim, Colds and illnesses can be asthma triggers. If you can control your asthma at all other times, you may want to ask about an inhaled steroids or a leukotriene modifier such as Singulair to use at the onset of a cold. Advair is a little expensive but would work good for you in this situation. You may want to ask you doctor about Flovent, Asthamcrout, or Pulmacourt inhalers. Most inhaled steroids are used two times a day, AM and PM. Ask you doctor about this situation. Matt > > My asthma is usually like that too.
