Guest guest
Yes, mine was in a conference room too. The panel (I had to address 3 people) sat at a table infornt of me, my lawyer and myself sat at at table on teh left and a government pension representative sat on the right. I was allowed to have notes in front of me but I would ask just to be sure. The memory issue was a big contender in my case as was my sever stutter and balance problems along with my fatigue and cognative problems. I had notes right in fornt of me to help me remember what I wanted to say. I just did them in point form. I had sent my lawyer a copy several weeks prior so he knew exactly what each day was like for me. That is what they focused on. If I could function for a reasonable amount of time to do any kind of work. Since I only get about 1-2 hours a day (usually noncontinuous) that I can function they deemed me unsuitable for gainful employment. Thank God. It took me over a week to recover from the hearing but it was worth it. I wore a pair of black dress pants with a dark purple dress shirt. You don't have to get all dressed up but I don't reccommend going in jeans either. I was so stressed out that I did not sleep for 2 nights prior dispite my lawyer telling me everything was going to be ok. He was right of course but you just never know. The tribunal came back with a yes and now I am just waiting to see what my settlement (I will get retroactive payment) and my monthly pension will be. I was a long (2 1/2 years) proccess and I am glad it is finally over. Be honest, answer every question in as much detail as you can. The better they understand what you go through every day the better your chance of winning. Angie

I got very lucky as my appearance was the last one on the docket for that day so I was able to take my time allot more and even take a couple of breaks.
