Guest guest Posted January 18, 2006 Report Posted January 18, 2006 Hi. This is my first post to the group but I have been reading for awhile. I've had asthma since I was 16 months old. It's pretty controlled in as far as that I only really have trouble with it when I get sick. Like if I get a cold it doesn't stay just a cold it turns into broncitus and asthma flare up. Anway, I've been sick for basically the last 2 months with broncitus. It got better for a few days then came right back. Had one round of anitbiodics and been on prednisone for about a month. I have a nebulizer at home and I've been using it as well. My question is this....today is the last day of the prednisone. The last few days have been tough, had to use the nebulizer every 4 hrs and even then it doesn't seem to give me that much relief, my chest hurts constantly, like a pressure in it and a burning, I'm wheezing every now and then but not constantly and I am coughing up a little bit of yellow stuff (sorry), I'm very tired and tired of being sick. I think maybe I should go to the local ER and let them see me and take a chest xray. I'm hesitant to go b/c it will cost alot (no insurance) and I'm not sure it's neccessary. I called my Dr's office today and the nurse said she'd leave the Dr a note but if my chest was hurting I should probaly go to Er. I'm worried that I will go to the ER for nothing basically, that they will just say go home and take more prednisone and keep using nebulizer then it will be a waste of money and time. I'm worried that maybe I am just frustrated and tired of being sick. But there is a part of me that is worried that I may have pneumonia and should go.... ugghhh..what should I do? Sorry to be so whiney but I just need advice and I'm unsure of what to do. Thanks Ak Quote
