I might have even posed the following questions: If I want more money and have so little, how can I give any of it away? If I desire deep love and I'm in a lousy relationship, how can I be expected to give more to the person I'm with? If I'm single, how do I give love if there's no one with me? If I want a great job and I'm in one I despise, what sense does it make to work harder? While on the surface these questions seem to make sense, we have to remember that we get what we put into something, and every success we achieve in life will be linked in one way or another to what we do for other people. During one of my interviews with author Deepak Chopra, M.D., he explained this principle using the example of creating great wealth. He said that money needs to circulate, like the blood in our body. If we hold on to it for fear that we'll never have enough, it's like putting a tourniquet on an artery, and we'll stop the flow of money into our lives. But if we serve the world with our money - even though at times it may be in short supply - then we'll be rewarded in kind. When you come to realize that the only way to get what you really want is to give that very same thing, you'll truly understand the power of serving. In my new book Slow Down, I show you the fastest way to get everything you want by simply taking the time to reflect within and challenge our sometimes altered perspectives. I also offer practical tips for all ages on how to live a richer, more fulfilling life. back to top Meet Psychic Medium Gordon Gordon , a native of Glasgow, Scotland, is the proverbial seventh son of a seventh son. He had his first experience of mediumship when he was only seven years old. It happened when a friend of his parents appeared and spoke to him from the spirit world. He did not know that the friend had died two weeks previously - it seemed like the usual family visit! Gordon's outstanding abilities as a medium — or messenger from the spirit world — have led him to be dubbed 'Britain's most accurate medium.' He is renowned for his ability to give exact names of people, places and even streets. Gordon has brought comfort and healing to thousands of people through the messages he's delivered from the other side. He's traveled to many parts of the world to appear before audiences, has read for many celebrities, and has been featured in television documentaries, but his feet have remained firmly on the ground. Refusing to ever charge for a private reading, Gordon still lives in his native home town of Glasgow where he runs a barber shop. In this often humorous book, Spirit Messenger, Gordon tells his own story of life as a messenger for the spirit world and shares his common-sense advice for avoiding charlatans and finding a true connection to Spirit. back to top Enlightening Humor. Probably not. Fears and doubts will always arise. As we go through the various stages and events in life, making one transition after another, we're constantly called upon to face new things that we've never confronted before. Being prepared with a process to follow when life tosses you a tough lesson can make the going a bit easier. Here's a handy list that you can copy and post for easy reference: Step 1: Acknowledge the fear and self-doubt. Don't minimize it, don't call it something is isn't (such as " nervousness " , " apprehension " , or " being somewhat anxious " ). Just admit that you feel afraid or scared. Step 2: Quantify the fear and self-doubt. On a scale of one to ten, how much fear and self-doubt are you experiencing? Once you've established a level of fear, you've acknowledged just how grave you perceive the situation to be. Step 3: Imagine the worst-case scenario. What's the most horrible thing that could happen? It's important to admit to yourself, and ideally to another person, the story your mind has made up about the situation. Usually the worst-case scenario is: " I'll end up feeling humiliated and I won't be able to survive, either emotionally or physically. " Step 4: Gather information and support, confront the perception, and dissipate the fear. Collect all the facts and assistance you can in regard to coping with your worst-case scenario so that it doesn't occur. Once the information and support are there, you can confront your perception. By addressing the physical situation, not only do you survive, but you're generally able to walk through the perceived difficulty. At that point, the fear automatically dissipates, you find that you're not defective, and your self-doubt disappears. Step 5: Celebrate! You've arrived in present-moment time. When you walk through your fear and self-doubt, you always end up in a place of joy. Editors Note: In Wyatt's book, The Five Steps to Overcoming Fear and Self-Doubt, he shares several examples of how a variety of people have applied these five steps to their real-life situations. He also shares his personal journey detailing how he used the five steps to manage his severe heart trauma (angioplasty surgery) and fear of heights. back to top Author lectures and workshops Dr. Wayne Dyer's Power of Intention Tour - Tickets are now available for these dates and locations: Minneapolis, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco and Honolulu. Hay - What is Success? I think that to succeed, people must believe the thought that they're a success, rather than the thought that they're a failure. Everyone has within them all the ingredients for success, just like the acorn has the complete oak tree curled within its tiny form. It's good to set standards that are achievable for where you are right now. Encourage and praise yourself for your improvements. It's okay to learn from every experience, and it's okay to make mistakes. This is the way that I've found to move from success to success, and every day it will get a little easier to see things in this light. When failure appears before me, I no longer run away from it; rather, I acknowledge it as a lesson. I give no power to failure. There's only One Power in this entire Universe, and this Power is 100 percent successful in everything that It does. It created you and me, the stars in the sky, and the planets; therefore, I am already a beautiful, successful person - and so are you! back to top --------------------------------- An invitation from the Editor Present Moments helps you to stay informed about what is going on with your favorite authors. We must practice flowing with this generous spirit if we truly want to resonate with the Divine Plan and live in a higher way. The most immediate way to resonate with Spirit and get in the Universal flow is to give of ourselves rather than remaining fearful and refusing to share. When I began my metaphysical studies with Dr. Trenton Tully 32 years ago, one of the first lessons I learned was the law of reciprocity - that is, we get from life what we give to it. If we give support, we'll get support. If we take interest in others, we'll get interest from others. The more we open our heart to share ideas, kindness, enthusiasm, love, and appreciation, the more the same will return to us. It's that simple. The secret to generosity is to share freely, with no strings attached, no secret agenda, and no unspoken expectations of " now you owe me " - it's the art of giving in a way that's honest and willing, with no thought of return. Giving from the heart, from a place of sharing who you are and what you have with the world, attracts beauty, synchronicity, and harmony to your life. You create balanced relationships with others and begin to establish a gentler, easier, more magical way of living. Giving is an art form that elevates your vibration an entire octave. Contributing from an authentic and generous place activates your Higher Awareness and shifts you to being a six-sensory being. It opens the heart and tunes you in to your Higher Self. But the kind of generosity that heals best is to live " full out " rather than be inhibited or restrained in any way (this means no holding back " just in case " ). Having faith in reciprocity, unconditional givers generate a thousandfold return. You must be willing to trust that you're an infinite soul who will always have everything you need. Being generous means taking attention off yourself and focusing on those around you. If you don't feel charitable, the best cure is to practice gratitude. Stop thinking about what's in it for you and see how much is already being given to you. (It can even be helpful to make a list of all that you've been given.) Instead of worrying about what you don't have, think of the Sufi master who, when his house burned down, said, " Good. Now I can appreciate the night stars. " Editor's note: Choquette's book Trust Your Vibes, contains 33 specific practices designed to enhance your natural intuitive abilities. back to top L. Weiss, M.D. Dr. L. As a traditional psychotherapist, Dr. Weiss was astonished and skeptical when one of his patients began recalling past-life traumas that seemed to hold the key to her recurring nightmares and anxiety attacks. His skepticism was eroded, however, when she began to channel messages from " the space between lives, " which contained remarkable revelations about Dr. Weiss's family and his dead son. Using past-life therapy, he was able to cure the patient and embark on a new, more meaningful phase of his own career. But remember that it's often said that the only constant in life is change. Just think of all the changes you've already experienced, such as high-school or college graduation, starting or leaving a job, beginning and ending relationships, moving, or becoming a parent. Change is inevitable. So why do we often have such a hard time with it? It's because change means having to let something go, which disturbs our sense of safety, says Elaine M. Sullivan, M.Ed., L.P.C., a Dallas-based counselor, educator, and board member of the National Wellness Institute. " You have to let go of something before something new has a chance to become, " she says. It's important to be gentle and patient with yourself while you're undergoing a transformation. Take care of your health; keep in contact with people who care about you; read books that provide comfort; and allow yourself plenty of quiet, contemplative time. " Change is a natural, normal process. You have choices. Realizing this can give you the courage to grow, " says Sullivan. Staying in situations - an unhealthy body, an exhausting job, a destructive relationship - that no longer fit is painful and can destroy your physical and mental health. Sullivan offers these five steps to help you learn from the changes you've already weathered, to seek healthy ways to deal with the stress of change, and to embrace the new change that you're about to embark upon. Look at your life over the past five years. What have been your major transitions? What have you gained as a result? You can even do this in chart form, a column for transitions and a column for the benefits. Are you satisfied with your job, relationships, social life, and physical health? Are you living your dreams? Consider the potential for positive changes and the strategies that will make them happen. Write them down. Examine the ways that you react to change. Do you avoid or mask your emotions by overeating or abusing alcohol or drugs? Make a list of healthy outlets you enjoy - such as exercise, cooking, gardening, or reading - that you can do instead. Focus on one change at a time. When you're ready to make a life change, it's more manageable to target one area at a time. Find a confidant, someone who will listen without judgment. If you feel the transition is too much to bear, don't hesitate to pursue short-term counseling. Once you've acknowledged your emotions by writing them down and talking about them, you'll be able to let go of the past and focus your energy in the present, says Sullivan. You'll become more aware of future possibilities. " New beginnings will come, along with a renewed sense of who you are. It can be a chance meeting or an accident, a dis-ease or the loss of a loved one. Something inside urges me to follow, or I'm forcefully prevented from living in the same old way. It's a little different for each person. I grow spiritually when I accept responsibility for my life. This gives me the inner power to make the changes in myself that I need to make. Have you noticed that spiritual growth isn't about changing others. Spiritual growth happens to the person who is ready to step out of the victim role and into forgiveness, and a new life. None of this happens overnight. It's an unfolding process. We call that process the Law of Attraction. The Law of Attraction says: That which is like unto itself is drawn. And so, you might see the powerful Law of Attraction as a sort of Universal Manager that sees to it that all thoughts that match one another line up. You understand this principle when you turn on your radio and deliberately tune your receiver to match a signal from a broadcasting tower. You do not expect to hear music that is being broadcast on the radio frequency of 101FM to be received on your tuner when it is set at 98.6FM. You understand that radio vibrational frequencies must match, and the Law of Attraction agrees with you. So, as your experience causes you to launch vibrational rockets of desires, you must then find ways of holding yourself consistently in vibrational harmony with those desires in order to receive their manifestation. Whatever you are giving your attention to causes you to emit a vibration, and the vibrations that you offer equal your asking, which equals your point of attraction. If there is something you desire that you currently do not have, you need only put your attention upon it, and, by the Law of Attraction, it will come to you, for as you think about this thing or experience that your desire, you offer a vibration, and then, by Law, that very thing or experience must come to you. However, if there is something that you desire that you currently do not have, and you put your attention upon your current state of not having it, then Law of Attraction will continue to match that not having it vibration, so you will continue to not have that which you desire. It is Law. Even though it may seem odd to you at first, it will be helpful for you to begin to accept yourself as a Vibrational Being, for this is a Vibrational Universe in which you are living, and the Laws that govern this Universe are Vibrationally based. Once you become consciously at one with the Universal Laws, and gain an understanding of why things respond in the way they do, all mystery and confusion will be replaced by clarity and understanding. Doubt and fear will be replaced with knowledge and confidence, uncertainty will be replaced with certainty - and joy will return as the basic premise of your experience. If you are truly dedicated to getting into the dollar-dance of life you are going to have to get used to creating almost constant energy. But before you lift a finger, let us look at the quality of energy you are putting out, so that when your energy mixes with that of the marketplace of life, you will only need small amounts of what you are to generate large amounts in return. Otherwise you sentence yourself to a life of grueling struggle, a life where at every turn you see evidence of how the world does not respond to, or does not accept in commercial terms, the things you have to offer. If you think of our society you see how the older generation, coming as they do from hard times, often endorses a view that shortages are rife. All of our culture and even our sayings endorse this: A stitch in time saves nine. A penny saved is a penny earned. The meek shall inherit the earth. (I met Meek once. He's a lawyer in Philadelphia. He's richer than God.) How many times have you heard that to make money you have to work hard? Who told you that? The people who told you were the ones who had experienced life as hard. They wanted you to experience it the same way so that you could join them and they wouldn't get lonely. The people who try to sell you on the struggle of life are those who, by virtue of that struggle, know little about how to make it. Best not to use them as advisers. Thinking abundant is just a habit. And as you expand the circle of possibilities that you allow yourself, bit by bit the Universe responds. The reason why abundance thinking is the vital first step is that it is from the collective energy of those thoughtforms that you create an overall feeling within you. And it is that feeling, namely that abundance is natural to you, which pulls to you the opportunities you need in life. In Stuart Wilde's book, The Trick to Money is Having Some, Wilde shows you that money is merely a form of energy - and that the difference between having it and not having it is merely a small but subtle shift in consciousness. back to top Author lectures and workshops Mystical Connections® in Seattle - Choquette, Holland, Gordon , and Doreen Virtue, Ph.D. Join all four of these highly talented intuitives and psychic mediums for an unforgettable day. Hay - Peace Begins with Me If we want to live in a peaceful world, then it's up to each one of us to make sure that we're a peaceful people. These tools work for me: No matter how others behave, I keep peace in my heart. I declare peace in the midst of chaos or madness. I surround all difficult situations with peace and love. I send thoughts of peace to all troubled parts of the world. If I want the world to change for the better, then I need to change the way I see the world. I'm willing to see life in a very positive way. I know that peace begins with my own thoughts. As I choose peaceful thoughts, I'm connected with like-minded, peaceful-thinking people (like you!). I choose a serene way of life. Together we'll help bring peace and loving kindness to our world by using these ideas. All is well in our world!
