Guest guest
, my gosh you are truly going through so much with your sinsus's. I pray that this next surgery will finally be the " charm " for you and your problems will be gone. Pam Sinus Update I went to an allergy doctor today to check for possible allergies. He ruled out any allergies. However, he did back me what I suspected about a month ago. We both feel like my left sinus is not draining properly due to an abnormal sinus structure(I was in a major bike accident as a child and did some damage to my nose/sinuses). I than went immediately to the Ear, Throat, Nose doctor who has been treating me. After telling him what the allergy doctor thought and based on my continuing symptoms, he agreed. He will do nose surgery on the left sinus to open it up more so the mucus can drain properly. I have to wait until insurance approval and a pre-surgery physical exam first, so my guess my surgery won't be until the middle to the end of June. Can I fast forward the clock? I wish...lol. Thanks for your continued support everyone.

Guest guest
Well thats good news you dont have allergies. Didnt you already have an operation and is this a differant doc now that will do the surgery? Do you still have an infection or is it cured now? I am so glad to hear that this surgery will finally end your sinus problem. Thinking of you and keeping you in my prayers... Hugs I went to an allergy doctor today to check for possible allergies. Guest guest
Hi , Actually, I've never had a true infection. I just found this out a few days ago. Infection in the sinuses are green or yellow. My excessive drainage has always been clear...normal. However, since my sinus structure is abnormal(rare), my left sinus cavity has not been draining mucus. It is totally closed off...not blocked with drainage, but closed. He will open the left sinus cavity in surgery in June. If I fill my left nostril with water, it will just sit there until I tilt my head forward to let the water come back out the nostril. My right nostril/cavity is normal. What really makes this rare is the doctor who is going to do the surgery in June, can take his instrument and look up my left nostril, and it will look open....but in reality is isn't. That's why even with him having 15 years experience of being an ETN doctor, it threw him off. He told me/his staff that my situation is rare. Again, probably due to a major bike accident I had when I was a child. I was racing a friend downhill on a long road. I was going very fast. However, I was used to the pedal brakes. That was the first time in my life I had ridden a bike that had brakes on the handlebars. When I got close to the bottom of the road, I tried to stop the bike with the pedals. There was a major street about 30 feet in front of me. I panicked and blacked out due to fear. I crushed my whole face when I hit the curb at about 30 miles an hour. I had scars all over my entire face, and I also lost a permanent tooth. However, no one did any x-rays back than, so I had absolutely no idea about the abnormal sinus structure until this year. The surgery they did in March removed a lot of the drainage I had built up in the last 3 years. However, that doctor thought that it was an infection and prescribed antibiotics. It helped my symptoms very little, and they eventually quit working. When he stated that there was still some infection left in the sinuses but not enough to worry about, that's when I decided to seek a second opinion. I am so relieved I listened to my hunch instead of that doctor. I have no angry feelings towards him though. He just got out of medical school and due to the rarity of my case, I can't expect him to deal with it. I needed someone more experienced. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. I'll keep you posted. Hugs to you too. Re: Sinus Update Well thats good news you dont have allergies. Didnt you already have an operation and is this a differant doc now that will do the surgery?
