It was me that said you know what needs to be done, but looking into

your mom's eyes tells another story. I read your reply saying your mom

didn't show any of the signs of her symptoms...again, another symptom in

itself of LBD. They can convince anyone and everyone, even themselves

that nothing is wrong. Atleast, in the earlier stages. I always

believed one of the good things about dad in the beginning was he was

oblivious to the symptoms I was noticing. It appeared almost a bodily

defense to what was really happening.

I am sure if you left your mom at your brothers for a week or 2, the

symptoms would show and he would see there is reason to think of the

future.

My prayers are with you as you are faced with many decisions.

Please keep in mind, sometimes things just have a way of working

themselves out. Can't explain it, it just happens.

One thing that was brought to mind today is it rained - POURED - most of

the day here. We are currently under severe thunderstorm warnings, and

tornadoes in western Iowa...storms always made my dad uneasy. I called

them " cloudy days " . Almost the same with a full moon. It just changed

his behaviors. So, I was wondering if anyone else, where rain, clouds

and thunderstorms are near are experiencing any changes in their LO's?

The NH where my dad lived was South of my home by about 20 some miles

and tornadoes usually follow a North-Easterly path. I used to get

uneasy knowing a storm/tornado was in his area until I heard it had

passed. Never concerned for myself, just always my dad.

Again, anyone else notice this with their LO's?

Just thinking.

It is so good to hear your surgery went okay and your doing good. Its such good

news that the symptoms you have had are gone and you had a good nite sleep.

Healing hugs

Hi PJ and everyone,

I had my surgery yesterday afternoon, and it lasted for about an hour. I

was home in the early evening.

I have developed very little pain, bleeding since than. It's kind of

unusual. They didn't pack my nose with gauze either like I thought they

would. They just sprayed some ointment in my nose. I didn't mind.

This morning, I'm feeling better. My symptoms that I have had for a long

time appear to be gone. I actually slept last night with no sleeping

medication. I feel pretty good considering.

Thank you for you warm thoughts. It's much appreciated.

, I know you know this already.....but just from the brief read

I had about your dad, the way he was is all about him and had nothing to

do with you or who you are/were or what you did.

If he had been happy with himself and his life, he would have been there

for you. He doesn't have it in him, not capable, if that makes sense?

Saying you didn't measure up to his expectations was just an excuse, a cope

out, to justify his non-involvement.

Don't try to figure it out. It's not worth your time and energy!

You can love him for who he is without feeling too affected by what he

does or doesn't do.

You are a great guy and wonderful asset to our group!

Just re-reading your Easter episode with your dad.....

If it's any consolation.....the words coming from him were probably said

to him at some put in his life. Especially as a kid. It's not an excuse by

any

means....but in most cases, verbally/physically abusive people were treated

that way by someone else. That's why it's so important to break the cycle!

Or the next few generations will suffer the same thing.

You are doing great!

Thank you Leann for your kind words and understanding.

I do agree with you. Even though he's always been a hard working man,

he's never been truly happy with himself. I don't dwell on his reason

for his behavior though. It's just sometimes when I get talking about

it, I get thinking about it. I don't get down over it. Sometimes I just

try to figure my dad out which I probably never will...but it's ok. My

life has gone on and will continue to do so.

I hope you're having a wonderful Memorial Day Leann.

Thanks again Leann.

I do have a 13 year-old daughter who resides in Utah. I do write her.

However, I haven't seen my daughter since 1999 when I left Utah. This is

" not " my choice by any means. Due to circumstances beyond my control and

a very long story, my daughter is not yet ready to see me...according to

the folks who's now raising her. I have always believed that she is

being strongly influenced and the decision is not hers. I used to be

very close to my daughter prior to 1999. I believe that one day when

she's 18, she'll tell them, " I'm going to see my dad. " She knows she's

welcome anytime.

I have absolutely no legal rights to my daughter(I signed the adoption

papers in 1991 to her grandfather who is now in prison and will be a

very long time. He and the state of Utah allowed friends of " his " to

obtain legal custody and raise my daughter. They are good people though.

If there was any way possible, I'd hire a lawyer and obtain custody of

her. I'm not the same person I was in 1991 when I felt I couldn't take

care of her. However, after talking to several lawyers, the only chance

I would have is to go to court and overturn the adoption. They stated I

would have about one in million chance of doing so. If I had the money.

I would take the chance, but I don't. Besides, my mother is convinced

that my daughter is happy where she is and I should let her be. Even

though the grandfather I allowed to adopt my daughter is now in prison,

according to the law, " He does not lose his parental rights. " So legally

he is still the " parent. " That's why his friends could only obtain legal

custody instead of adoption. I would give anything to bring her up here.

I can only wait until she's older and she can think for herself.

Thanks again Leann and have a wonderful Memorial Day.

Good for you! These things are never easy but funny how they can

make us better people. More compassionate and more grateful for the

good things we have. Without the bad, we might not be the great folks

we are today!

Hi -

I do remember reading another post about taking some sort of supplement.

I'm not educated enough on the subject to answer your question about

protein. Followers of Natural Hygiene basically believe that we're taught

(via the standard American diet) to believe that we need more protein then

we actually do. There is enough protein in fruits and veg's to fulfill our

'true' need, according to this school of thought. Raw nuts and seeds may be

included in this diet, by the way. Also, you can make a variety of crackers

and cookies that are considered raw because they are made in a dehydrator at

under 105 degrees. I recently made some sweet potato chips in my dehydrator

that were so addicting, I ate the whole batch in one sitting!

When I was 19, I became a vegetarian and my mom was very worried about my

protein intake. Over the years, I've varied my diet from natural hygienist,

to vegan, but when I was pregnant, I did eat chicken because I figured the

baby(ies) needed it if I was craving it. I haven't had any major medical

problems in 19 years of this way of eating. I have 2 kids that I had via

c-section - the first one because she was breech. The second because his

abdomen was larger than normal. I was fine through both surgeries and

recoveries.

I'm feeling that I shouldn't continue on this thread since it's off-topic,

but if you are interested you can email me privately or you can do a search

for Dr. Herbert Shelton who was the foremost authority on Natural Hygiene.

Also, a good book regarding these ideas is Fit For Life.

, just wanted to let you know that I usually respond

to the type of things you might have mentioned about your daughter

but didn't see the post. Our new homebased biz and just family life has

been so busy I put myself on digest mode on most of my groups and try

to skim them every day or to.

Please know sometimes folks don't respond and it's not an intentional

thing. I somehow missed what you had type about her!

I hope things are going better.

That's always the way it is with Spirit/Universe/God - however you believe -

when we need things they always show up. We are SO blessed!

I'm feeling a lot better. I decided to stop fighting it so hard and just go

with things for a while and now life is looking a whole lot better. I hate

those bad days! But the good days always come back around and I appreciate

those times. I'm almost back to normal - well I wouldn't actually call it

normal - but I'm almost back to ME!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday night!

Hi ....

I so do believe what you say. I have found that, things just show

up to help when you seem to need them. Its just happened so

much for me. Yes WE are truely blessed.

I am so happy to hear that you are feeling better and are

having good days. I know all about the bad ones and I hate

them too but I guess they come with the package. I try to tell

myself on those days these must be my learning days.

Although I dont know what Im learning, maybe its learning to

cope days..

Being almost back to normal sounds good to me...your

normal. You make me laugh at that statement as I use that

normal word in alot of humour.

Im just glad to hear things are good.

Big hugs

That's always the way it is with Spirit/Universe/God - however

you believe - when we need things they always show up. We

are SO blessed!

I'm feeling a lot better. I decided to stop fighting it so hard and

just go with things for a while and now life is looking a whole lot

better. I hate those bad days! But the good days always

come back around and I appreciate those times. I'm almost

back to normal - well I wouldn't actually call it normal - but I'm

almost back to ME!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday night!

Blessings,

Hello ..

Its nice to have you join us.

I have often said the same words as you, " I wish I had known

alot of things when I was younger " , but as you I did the best I

could.

You have suffered many losses in the past five years, and I

am so very sorry to hear that.

I have also felt that after a loss we seem to be expected to

resume our normal lives with work and all the other things. I

feel it takes some of us longer to re adjust and cope. To find,

then learn, what learning skills we need to be able to cope.

I am glad to hear you are finding some peace with Yoga, and

reiki and angels.

I find it interesting that you comminucate with angels and dear

no one here is crazy, including U :) Is this something you

learned, or meditate to do? I have read a couple books on

Angels, believe they exist, but never went any further into it.

I wish you peace and I send you caring hugs.

Live Long....Laugh Hard....Email Often

Hi everyone and thanks for the welcome. Too tell you a little

bit

about myself - I am a mother, wife, daughter, sister and

friend. I

have been doing a lot of work on myself and how I react to

things. I

wish I had known all this stuff when my children were younger,

but I

did the best I could. In the past five years I have watched my

brother die from motor neuron disease, my father take six

months to

die after he broke his hip, have to put my mother in an aged

care

faciltiy (she suffers dementia) and then my sister die

unexpectedly.

All this while still trying to keep the family going, pay the bills,

and work outside the home. I really need time to think and

finding

that time is the hardest. I attend Yoga class, I practice Reiki,

and

I communicate with Angels (no I'm not crazy). I love Louise

Hay &

recently went to see her here in Australia. I am saying my

daily

affirmations and I find them making me very peaceful and

trusting in

life. Sorry for this is long post. I look forward to the learning

from this group.

Love & light

Hello and welcome to the group.

You are one busy Lady....Having 3 young children with a

special needs child is challanging in itself, then to add on

the other pressures and challanges, life can become

difficult as we find things added to our list rather than

subtracted.

Stress causes illness and an overload of stress causes

burnout.

I hope you are able to start making changes in your lifestlye,

even small ones to start, but making changes in helping

your lifestyle to become less stressful for you.

I ask people to think of this question...

What if tomorrow stressoverload has caused you to have a

stroke or heart attack? Who will replace you in the home?

And I ask this question as one day years ago I too suffered

from stressoverload which leaded to burnout, then lead me

to spend 7 months that year hospilized.

I had 3 young children and a husband who worked shift

work. I worked full time also, life changed very much after

that. We nearly lost our house..etc...

Its something to think about and maybe to sit down with

hubby and explain to him how you need him to help with

things more especially at times while you are working at

home. Communication is important.

There never seems to be one answer but many changes we

have to make to stay healthy in body and mind.

I wish you all my best and I hope as you read through the

group page archieves you will find things that will help you.

You are Important!!!!!

Hugs

Hi. I'm a WAHM of 3 boys, my oldest has special needs,

spina bifida being the main one, but there really isn't a main

one, they're all pretty front burner.

I am a volunteer on a few things, including now the PTA at

my son's school - got to keep those things happy.

I work at home but my hours were just cut in half! We are

seeing it big time! I can feel myself slowly going under and I

think for the first time I will be shopping at the low income

Christmas Shoppe this year.

I am trying to save money all the time. Food - I rarely buy

expensive brands, but the bill is still high. I just don't know

how to cook so my bills are higher I guess. I use cloth

diapers to save, always use cold water to wash in, use the

dishwasher and washing machine during off hours to save,

hang the laundry to dry and then just fluff during off hours to

save.

I haven't gone back to taking cold showers yet. I deserve a

warm one, even if it is short.

I have a $2000 ring that I can't find a buyer for and a

husband that doesn't stop to appreciate his family.

I'm always nudging him to remember us first when he's

scheduling his day's events. I get my oldest up first, do his

enema, then get the second one going - to wake up dad

and hopefully have him get him dressed. Then I get the

baby going. Get them all ready, check on son #1, painful

tears with the enema as always, need to get his lunch ready

for school, get breakfast ready, don't forget to make notes

in his journal for the teacher and therapists....

Clean the house, put away the dishes before the boys put

their dirty ones in there, have a cup of coffee - oh darn,

check the dryer and switch loads before the cheaper rate

expires....

Get my makeup and hair done before the bus comes or we

have to drop him off for therapy....change baby's diaper,

remind middle son to clean up, get oldest to do some

coloring before school......

That's just the first 2 hours of the day.

It doesn't let up. Not until 1pm when I have a few hours to

myself to try and cram everything I can in for work. I used to

work then, then work later too after they all went to bed. But

now that most of my work is volunteer, my husband gives

me a hard time for taking time away from us to do it.

My volunteer work is leading to money, just not that much

and not nearly soon enough, but it's building connections

and is rewarding. We just can't make enough and are in the

hole.

HELP.
