Guest guest
I've found that Texas Children's (the Learning Support Center) isn't really the greatest at calling you back and telling you when they need to receive additional information. I just went through the same thing with them in their Speech, Language, and Learning department. You have (at least for all the services that we've needed from them) to have a referral form filled out and signed (even though there is no place on the form asking for a signature). You can call them and ask for a referral form to be faxed to your current pediatrician. Then I call both parties to be sure they are doing their respective parts and then follow up with Texas Children's to be sure that everything's in place. Then they actually let you make an appointment! Yea! The great thing is that we have met amazing doctors there who really take their time and know how to relate to the kids. Also, FYI, it only took about 3 months for my son to be seen. That was in Dec for an eval and we go for testing next week. Then we have the speech eval in March. Hope this helps. _____ From: Texas-Autism-Advocacy [mailto:Texas-Autism-Advocacy ] On Behalf Of Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2006 10:01 PM To: Texas-Autism-Advocacy Subject: Houston Developmental Pediatricians! Hello! Im not sure if I have ever even posted here but I really need some help. Can someone please tell me if there is any where else besides Texas Childrenst that has a developmental pediatrician. I am asking this because I filled paper work out and I know they have recived it in Sept 2004 and I still have not heard anything back. I am still on a waiting list for an appt. I really would like to get my son diagnosed as soon as possible. I have been fighting all of these people for over a year now and I would like to really get things on the road. Thanks in Advance Everyone I really appreciate it. <3 Texas Autism Advocacy www.TexasAutismAdvocacy.org Texas Disability Network Calendar of Events www.TexasAutismAdvocacy.org

Guest guest
, A developmental pediatrician is not the only one that can diagnose your child. You can also get a diagnosis with a child psychologist. I don't live in the Houston area, so I don't know of anyone to recommend either way. Sorry! Anne -- Houston Developmental Pediatricians! Hello! Guest guest
We used Robin Reamer a few years back. I really liked the way she was patient and how she interacted with my son. She coud tell he had given his all one day and simply suggested that they play a bit and gave him many needed breaks and we came back another day. She built a rapport with him first which was just what he needed. She was located near Rice Village in West University at that time. Guest guest
Mike Assel, PH. D Assistant Professor of Pediatrics 7000 Fannin Suite 2300 Houston, TX 77030 This is the person that diagnosed us, call them and see if they are under your insurance. They give your child a test, its almost an all day thing, and they tell you what exactly is going on and what direction you need to go. Good luck. Re: Houston Developmental Pediatricians! Guest guest
I wanted to tell you all thank you for the suggestions I really appreciate it!! My son is already recieving OT and ST twice a week from a private facility. I have taken him to the Learning Support Center at Texas Childrens, they gave me a packet to fill out for another place that could get me in faster but, I have not heard anything back from them either. I have an Appt. on May 16 with UTMB for a pediatric neurologist but I would like it to be sooner then that. I havent even heard anything from UTMB since I made the appt. so I have no idea what is going on. I am very confused as I am sure all of you were when you were trying to get a diagnosis, I just think that it is rediculous that I am having to wait so long for a diagnosis. Thanks once again I really appreciate it.
