Guest guest
I use the Philips SpeechMike Pro Plus. It's a microphone/mouseball that is held in the hand. It's nice in that I can sit very naturally and use it in either hand to control the cursor/arrow, so it's great for ergonomics. The buttons are programmable (I use it for new line, forward and back). It was a good bit of money but I like it a lot. I believe the accuracy is reasonably good though my understanding is that the headsets with the microphone a consistent distance from the mouth tend to be the best. Here's one site with an image (not the place I got it, just a vendor with an image of the product I found on www)... http://www.transcriptiongear.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD & Product_Code\ =LFH5276 & Category_Code=SPMIC & Product_Count=3 Good luck with the VR. I find that the accuracy mostly depends on my speech patterns, fatigue and hurrying. If I do it right, it is fine with only episodic mistakes. Guest guest
I have purchased a few microphones from www.emicrophones.com and have found they have great service (I once emailed a question and was called right back on a Sunday) and good prices. I wouldn’t scrimp too much on a microphone as even a small improvement in accuracy translates to valuable time saved which could justify even a top of the line microphone. Saving just 1 minute a day on corrections is over 3 hours of billable hours per year. One of the microphones I purchased is http://www.emicrophones.com/microphones/prod_details.asp?prodID=127, which works well and is only $84. The advantage of using a USB microphone is that if you ever change computers, you can copy the voice files. If you plug the microphone into a sound card, rather than a USB port, you would have to retrain the program. Dan microphone/dictation/Dragon NS I certainly don't want to trigger the massive discussion we've had on Dragon dictation again, but I wanted to see which microphones/headsets are currently being used most successfully, especially cheap! I'm going to try it again - haven't bothered up to now, but I'm tired of typing this week.
Guest guest
I use the Sennheiser ME3, can’t recall price but is not “cheap” (I think >$100). However, the rep I bought the DNS from said an after market mic was unnecessary & the one that comes w/ it would have worked fine. I hear both stories: some say a good mic is critical & others say it is not that big of a deal. You do need a fast CPU & at least 1 gb RAM. DB microphone/dictation/Dragon NS I certainly don't want to trigger the massive discussion we've had on Dragon dictation again, but I wanted to see which microphones/headsets are currently being used most successfully, especially cheap! I'm going to try it again - haven't bothered up to now, but I'm tired of typing this week.
