phine,

I know you have a tough decision.  I agree with the others in that you can't be

afraid to use meds if the alternative is seeing your child suffer.

We were in a similar situation and decided to do only the CBT/ERP  when she was

6, and for months had no luck b/c our dd became very anxious anytime she had to

talk about her OCD.  Like you, I am very cautious about meds and wanted to use

only as a last result.  Finally after a 2nd failed attempt at CBT/ERP 2 years

later (thinking maturity would help) we decided to seek out a homeopathic

practitioner that had successfully treated OCD in both kids and adults.

We have worked very successfully with a classical homeopath in Montana.  We do

all consults via phone and I am happy to report after 9 months, we now have a

daughter that is happy, no longer has horrible rages and has shown a pretty

dramatic decrease in her rituals.  At one point before we started homeopathic

treatment, her bedroom door was off the hinge for a month because no matter what

we did she would hit, smash and dig at it during her rages to point she knocked

one of the solid wood panels right out.

I want to say, most importantly, if you decide to try this route there are very

few Homeopaths that use classical homeopathy and know how to treat OCD.  We were

told that likely only 6-10 in the country that are successful at it with

consistency.  I offer this out because I am very thankful I knew someone that

was knowledgable about this option and encouraged me to try it.   We use is Dr.

Mark Janikula -his website is www.vitalhomeopathic.com if you are interesteted

in contacting him.

Good luck and hang in there!
