Guest guest
Esther, I do not take offense and respect you feelings. I meant is simply in the sense of The Bible that humans have dominion over animals. I agree, people should not be cruel to animals, either. But, at least in my case, I eat animals like cows, pigs, chicken, and fish but would NEVER eat a human. At the same time, I respect anyone's feeling of a vegan lifestyle and would never want to offend anyone who makes that choice. I had a dear friend who equated all life to human life and would not eat any animal because of it. Again, that's fine and I respect that. I meant it more that the general thought is that, an example, I have a right and responsibility to prevent my cat from birthing kittens (though we failed at it this summer, lol) but I have no right to prevent any human from birthing babies because I'm over a cat but not a human. Like my dog I'd had from age 7 to 22 was found to have a mass in her liver, I had the right to choose to have her put to sleep. I do not have that right with any human because I am equal to the human, but over the dog. For me, animal life is valuable, but human life is moreso. Another example, if I ran over a raccoon, I would have the responsibility to ensure the animal did not lay there and suffer, either by getting it medical attention or killing it, but would not have the responsibility of filing a police report or standing trial for the running over of a raccoon, unless there were evidence I was trying to intentionally harm it for pleasure. If it were a human, on the other hand, it would be my duty to file a police report, and potentially go to jail if found I wasn't being as careful as I could have been. Anyway, just trying to clarify. I definitely did not mean animals should be abused or mistreated. I'm a big animal lover, just lost my cat of the last 17 yrs :-(. We also have two dogs and looking to find some land so we can get some horses. My Granny's farm was fun, she had peacocks, goats, horses, cats, dogs, chickens, fish in the horse trough and tank in the house, and before me she had cattle and pigs. I used to love going to her place so I could play with all the animals. The cats were always wild farm cats, there to keep the rodents away. By the time I left my granny would be so fed up, I'd have 'em all tame and trying to run into the house, lol. Debi
