Guest guest
Hi Debi, Thank God Dinah is ok. You must have been in a panic! Thanks for passing on this valuable information. My best, _____ From: Autism_in_Girls [mailto:Autism_in_Girls ] On Behalf Of Debi Sent: Wednesday, July 26, 2006 12:03 AM To: Autism_in_Girls Subject: Lyme Disease update Hey, just wanted to pass along what happened with Dinah Grace. She had been exposed to ticks around 5-6pm, tick was found imbedded in her around 8-9pm. I was concerned if we should take her to doctor to begin 4wk dose of preventative antibiotics, as is the protocol to prevent Lyme Disease. We decided to risk the development of symptoms in place of the risk of antibiotics. About a week later Dinah developed a high fever and cold-type/strep--type symptoms. I took her to Allie's DAN! doc. He said the protocol is to consider Lyme Disease only if the tick has been imbedded for *at least* 12-24 hours. He said he didn't know why that time period is used, but he felt Allie probably had a summer cold. Turns out he was right, a few days later Allie started running a fever and cold, along with myself and , and two of our close friends. Thankfully, it appears Dinah is fine. I just wanted to pass on the 12-24 hr minimum in case anyone else might find a similar situation. Debi -- No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
