Our family is myself; 49 years young, I Love music, dancing with the kids,

boating, going to the beach and shopping. Volunteer in many areas; Family Care

Council, Adoption Task force of Florida, Special Olympics, PODS Angels, FLDOE,

CEIDD, NDSC affiliate, DSSERC, Partner in policy making graduate, many more when

they come up. Bake treats for fundraisers, Holidays are very special and we have

many traditions. My children have open adoptions, contact varies. I blog, to see

us day to day through blogspot, our page is

www.pringleadoptionjourney.blogspot.com for current insight.

Keirsten is sixteen, non relative fostered as newborn adopted at age five, camp

counselor at special needs camp. She is into fashion, make up and boys along

with her cell phone= non stop texting and her music. Our recent trip to Illinois

brought her a world of new relatives and opened her view of back to nature

activities.

Kaitlyn is fifteen, has Down syndrome, adopted at the age of three, long

beautiful blonde hair, she has braces, loves to sing, she is in universal

education/band (clarinet/drums) she loves to have friends sleep over, social.

She is athletic, has won many art awards, is the Florida young very social, self

advocate honor this year. She is fluent on the computer, has a summer job.

is thirteen years old, perminanat legal custody at the age of two, has

Down syndrome, makes the honor roll in universal education. He has a contagious

smile, often found giggling, loves to play. Enjoys books, spaceships and has a

very cool room I hand painted with all the planets and a ceiling full of stars

that glow. loves camping and outdoor activities.

Jordan is ten, adopted as a newborn after a scheduled adoption disruted at

birth, has Down syndrome, Dandy walker spectrum and ADHD. He plays on the

climbing gym, swimming outside, baseball. Jordan loves to dance, bake pizzas and

help around the house. He is fully included in second grade.

Tressa is eight, adopted at two months, she as Prader-Willi syndrome, she is our

know it all, remembers EVERYTHING and makes friends with everyone. She talks non

stop. Loves to tell stories and play doll house/baby's in her room, arts and

crafts. Tressa loves books, she has a song made with her as the main focus,

listens to it daily; " Tressa's smile. "

Lucas is six, an international adoption dissolution which I toook custody at the

age of four for adoption through re-homing, has Down syndrome. He has gained so

much in all aspects of his ability to live a typical life in our home. He is in

the public education system doing better than anyone had given him credit. He

has begun talking, toilet traininig as well as socially appropriate... makes me

smile typing his progress.

Emma is one, also a newborn adoption thorugh a planned adoption that did not

proceed due to her having Down syndorme and other medical complications,

disruption at 2 days old. She is the shining star crawling and playing after

three holes in her heart and major medical was completed; she met goals rapidly

via all the early interventions. She is near walking and has the personality of

Miss America.

We will open our home to another adoption if one comes along. The growth kids

make by the understanding/experience of behavior is a gift we as a family can

offer. It is effortless(kinds sorta) for us because our home has supports and

services in place. We have a home full of therapy/therapists.

We family vacation annually, although take long weekends whenever possible.

Cruises, we all snorkel in the Ocean, trips to Bush Gardens and Disney world are

easy as we live close. Give Kids the World has given us an open pass to visit

whenever we are in town.. VERY FUN PLACE. The local museums, zoo, nature centers

are weekend favorites. Our community has many family focused activities.

Our home is completely focused on the children's needs, although shows as a

" typical " middle class family environment. Closets full of OT, PT and speech,

sensory and behavioral supports. We have in home services so I can help between

the therapy with Ms. Jill (SP), Janeth, a, the Behavioral(MS) Barbie,

Mandie (PCA), Jan(OT) and many others. Child centered activities are priority,

we bowl (got their own bowling balls from Santa) we play Bocce, baseball and

basketball. Our city is full of parks and has boundless ones. This year they are

all got instruments: Electric guitars, drums and a flute. We have a piano in our

home, they all play. Dance offs on Saturday nights are part of our regular

routine. We swim as a family every day possible. In the summer we horseback

ride, take trips to parks and explore our environment. We have a huge playground

in our backyard which has two slides, one that swirls. There is a neat deck on

the top like a ship and a playhouse underneath durable for adult weight. A

LIFETIME OF FUN!

The older children who no longer live in the home are constant support; Mandie,

(31 yrs) is hired as a job in the home daily through a program called Med

waiver. She lives about 22 miles away with her family. Her husband is a great

male role model for the kids and his family being from Mexico offer culture

experiences for Jordan. 29, lives in Ga with her 3 yr old son. Kory 27

is the older brother, he is metro and keeps the boys hygiene focused. , also

27 is busy with her job and little girl so we see them on holidays or weekends.

's journey having RAD took me to places I had never experienced, I worked

with Kay Donnelly at one point which was insightful, another local therapist

gave me the tools to blossom in this area. Josh is 21, also experienced

attachment issues from abandonment pre-verbal, he also struggles with mental

health issues. I have two regularly scheduled nights out to be with friends, or

attend meetings. We do dinner out in restaurants as a family so we can help with

community speech. Most of our time is busy with school, therapy and family time.

We keep structure so everyone knows their place and things run smooth with

routine. I blog to give all our adoptions OPEN knowledge and families have

photos almost daily. We do face to face visits with many birth families.

I advocate for children who have Down syndrome, offer supports and resources

locally through a not for profit. I also co-lead a support group for adoptive

parents one night a month. I am subcontracted to review alternate assessments

for the state DOE. Governor appointed to sit on the FCC8, Connected and

achieving total inclusion in school and community for children with special

needs. Working out of my home, I am able to focus my attention to the

children's needs. My success has been from my support system in place, my

knowledge of Down syndrome, Dandy walker and Prader-Willi syndrome gained from

attending any conference possible and networking with people like on this site.
