Guest guest
Thank you Kelley, I know I tried. If you do find something let me know how you went about finding it. My search teaching is nothing. I mean I couldn't even search anything at all if I wanted to that's how bad it is. Well thank you anyway Kelley I appriciate the help. I should have asked but wasn't feeling that good and couldn't even sit in one of the chairs that were in the blood labs office so I had to stand the whole time until she called me in. I just wanted to get out of there. I guess we live and learn. Hugs; Ginger Kelley Knight wrote: Ginger, I am not sure what that test is. Guest guest
Ginger, Near as I can tell (from reading on the web) the " lavender " simply refers to the color of the stopper in the top of the test tube used to perform certain tests including Sedimentation Rate (aka Westergren) test which is used to determine the amount of inflammation in the body and is used as a non-specific test to determine when there is an infection. The lack of an infection (blood cultures and urine tests) helped the doctors to identify my condition as Still's Disease. Different colored stoppers are used to determine which tests are to be performed. Some of the test tubes contain anti-coagulants and other preservatives which will preserve the blood in the proper condition for the test to be performed properly. Here is the page I used to help determine that.. http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:481Rke9aQXoJ:www.doh.state.fl.us/lab/An alyticalServices/Hematology.htm+EDTA+lavender+test <http://64.233.161.104/search?q=cache:481Rke9aQXoJ:www.doh.state.fl.us/lab/A nalyticalServices/Hematology.htm+EDTA+lavender+test & hl=en & start=1> & hl=en & start=1 Hope this helps. Guest guest
Thank you so much Darv, and thank you for the web page. I had one once and put it on my bookmarks and then when I needed it of course it wasn't there. So going to book mark this one too. Guest guest
Hello, Hey ask all questions... We are here to help. I am a Nurse and I can tell you that an elevated White blood count can indicate a flair or an infection. See, The increase in White blood cells is a bodies response to inflammation whether it is from an illness or a flair. The Cells help the body " wall off " those " bad cells " and break them down so that the body can get rid of them. With this disease and the chronic inflammation factor it's very important to monitor your temperature and pain level. Also it is very important for you to follow up with your doctor and from experience I would suggest another blood test just to make sure it is not a false test level (see, if your blood is tested after it has set out a while it can actually give you false levels). I hope that this information helps and please keep me up to date as to how things are going. I hope you feel better soon Danni
Guest guest
WOW thanks Danni. you all seem to know all about this and it's so nice to have someone to ask when i forget. hee hee. I got a call yesterday from my onlcology doctor and i guess that test didn't look good. does maybe someone here or do you know when the white cell count is up is that a sign of a flair? I often wonder these things because my last really bad flair the one that hospitalized me my mom and dad did all the talking as i just was there with high fevers and didn't know anything. but now i am on my own and wow so much to learn. hugs; giner Blondedolphin172@... wrote: If that is a blood test... Guest guest
Thank you Danni, I had a blood test the week before this one and it showed that the white cell count was up and I had no iron he called it folate I think it was may have spelled i wrong and that doctor wanted me to go for Iron transfusion. while my arthritis doctor had me take another one this week and also gave me Preds to take AGAIN, I can say I truly wish something else would help the fevers and the awful pain then just these pills as they blow me up so much and my face too, I seem to go into depression more and well just don't like them. And when she starts them up she starts up with 40 mg a day and doesn't cut back until the fevers are gone and then I can go down to 20 mg. a day and then she just leaves me there but I cut my self down slowley because I really don't like them. She has tried so many meds, that she said didn't help the fever or the pain and some would help the pain but not the fever only Prednazone helped everything she said. I do have another question. My blood pressure was low and it has been for a few weeks. Is this usually a part of a flair too? I usually have high blood pressure. It was 90 over 30 this time and the week before it was 100 over 30. All I know and everyone else here must know this too, but I am so very tired. Mostly in the mid afternoon I can just go right to bed and sleep that whole day out but of course can't and don't. Thank you so much. Guest guest
Ginger just wanted to send lots of love and support. Rest as much as you can and I also used to have to get iron transfusions. It was a good thing as it helped me get better eventually. It's a long road sometimes but hang in there with us. Biggest hugs, Melt ----- Original Message ----- From: Ginger Sunshine To: Stillsdisease i wrong and that doctor wanted me to go for Iron transfusion.
