Guest guest
Forwarded from the DS-Autism Connection site.. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------\ ----------------------------- I am writing to you on behalf of the Puckett Institute. We are conducting a study using social robots to promote joint attention in children with autism and Down syndrome. The project is directed by Dr. Carl Dunst, Ph.D and funded by the Office of Special Education. In laboratory settings, social robots have been successful in promoting social interaction and joint attention in children with special needs. We are interested in finding out what parents think about these robots. In this study parents will be asked to watch a 2-3 minute video of a robot and child interacting and answer 12 questions about the practicality and usefulness of the robot. The entire study can be done over the internet and takes about 10 minutes. By assisting us in this study you will help us learn more about social robots and their potential as a therapeutic intervention for children with autism or Down syndrome. We are hoping that you could help us share information about our study with families in you work with, either via email, facebook post, etc. Here is a link to our website http://socialrobots.org/ and our study http://socialrobots.org/participate1.php. Please contact me if you have any questions or so we can further discuss this project.
