In an article about planning a training program for chronic accumulation of

fatigue and for

" unloading " fatigue before key competition for cyclists, the author referred to

this article:

Busso T, Hakkinen K, Pakarinen A, et al. Hormonal adaptations and modelled

responses in

elite weightlifters during 6 weeks of training. Eur J Appl Physiol 1992; 64:

381-386.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to the text or even a synopsis. If any

readers are

familiar with it and find it relevant the point quoted above, I'd appreciate

hearing your

comments. Thanks in advance.

Measuring hormonal responses in the field may be a bit out of reach

for most ppl. But indeed, it it possible to use measurements of

hormonal responses of the body to tune the training load, and planning

of accumulation / restitution.

I can only recommend you to study the work of the regretted prof A.

Viru, if you are interested in hormonal responses of the body.

1. Biochemical Monitoring of Sport Training by Atko Viru and Mehis,

Ph.D. Viru

2. Adaptation in Sports Training by Atko Viru

The last book is a bit old, it was out in 1995, but is a superb book,

and I believe anyone interested in human performance should study it.

Then again, a monthly graph of resting HR and bodyweight, while much

more mundane and not as sophisticated as bio-chemical monitoring can

give you very interesting information.
