Guest guest
It totally depends on the mother and her experience. Sometimes, the epidural can prevent the mother from being able to push, and sometimes it will help the mother be able to push for various reasons. It's such a personal thing. I'm shocked that " in this day and age " people can't let other people be themselves and trust what they feel is right!! > > I was told yesterday at work that I was CRAZY to want a natural childbirth. > Here's what they had to say to me: > > Lady #1: " Why would you do that to yourself !?! Just to say you did it > naturally?! That's the craziest thing I " ve ever heard in this day and age of > medicine " > Lady # 2 " let me tell you I had an epi (epidural) and was able to talk > to my husband and laugh and joke around with my doctors. Going with out pain > medication makes the whole birthing process very unpleasant. If I were you > I'd rethink that decision! " > Lady #1 " Oh she will when the pain hits!! " > Lady #1 & #2 both break out into laughing fits! >

All I can say is my mom was SO impressed with my midwife that she gave her a HUGE check and spoke about her to everyone after. > > my family thought I was irresponsible for having her at home.. >
Guest guest
They'll be in awe of you when it's over and you had your baby naturally. Or jealous that they didn't have the guts to do it themselves. Having your baby naturally will teach you so much of your own strength and power as a woman. Blessings to you and your baby, Darlene
Guest guest
Having a baby at home is so much more peaceful for both. The baby already knows the vibration of your home, your voices, your feelings, the music you have listened to, the walks you have been on etc. The adjustment to the air world is much smoother when delivered in a place he/she already feels comfortable in. You can choose the lighting, the atmosphere, where you give birth and how. It gives you as a woman so much more power and it is the part of labor where you have control. I wasn't really worried about the safety/responsibility issue because I was so convinced about the postivie reasons why I wanted to have my children at home and you always have a back up doctor and a link to the nearby hospital anyway. I know you have been worrying about being pregnant and I just want to add that this is NORMAL. I don't know one woman who hasn't worried about some part of pregnancy, childbirth and the time after. I remember worrying with my first preganacy that I wouldn't know when to change the diapers and how I would know when the baby was hungry. I got plenty of milage from those worries!!! Of course when the baby arrived they were the last thing on my mind. I think it is important to acknowledge the worries and then choose to focus on something else or write them down on paper and keep them where you can look at them. Our minds are ever expanding and it can be hard to control a thought once it takes hold. Writing it down makes it more physical and realistic and takes it out of the mind. When you write down - 'I am worried about labor' or 'I am worried that my baby will be okay', it takes the worry away. You can then change it to a positive statement to bring those new thoughts to the forefront. Almost turn it around. 'My labor will be smooth, beautiful and harmonious'. 'My baby is growing strong, happy and healthy'. These are rather simplistic and I am sure you can think of something more descriptive and lovely, I am just giving the idea. Thoughts are only thoughts and we can change them in any second. Other people are intitled to their thoughts and views but they should also respect yours. Have a lovely Saturday Blessings Re: childbirth > >LOL >My mom thought I was insane too. what if something goes >wrong.........
