I don't think word salad is all that uncommon in children with HFA. My son is almost 6 and uses it a lot. He talks almost non stop, most of it making sense to just him. . My son is dx with both HFA and Bi-polar disorder. It's not uncommon for children with bi-polar disorder to see and hear things.
