Guest guest
So, the 1st six weeks is almost up, and I thought that everything was going smooth. I was always told that Noah and his new aide were working well togethor and from what Ive seen so far, it seems to be true. Noah is all smiles when he sees him in the morning. the problem is, is that he is not always there, for whatever reason. I know he is still persuing a degree, and I can certainly relate, Ive been working on my four year for about ten years, LOL, and he lives a pretty good distance from teh school. I know the pay is not worth it because I had his position up until last year. Anyway, I found out from the person who subbed for him that there is a point after lunch when Noah and the rest of his classmates are sent to another room to watch TV, while the certified teacher works with one resource student. This was an issue last year, I know, because I was there. Dont get me wrong, this child is entitled to her time with the teacher, but so is mine. I was told that this new teacher is hardly ever in the class, teh aides dont know where she goes and the only time they see her in the class is to work with this particular student. BTW, this student is the child of a teacher who has been working there for years. Hmmm? When does my child get time with his teacher? I know his teacher is his home room teacher as well, that is what I advocated for, but what about the time he is in his sped class? Does he just watch tv? The teacher I worked with last year struggled with this. She wanted to dedicate as much time with the " life skills " students as she was being told to spend with this resource student, and when she asked for outside help, it was frowned upon. Needless to say, her contract was not renewed. Hmmm? then I find out today that he wasn't in his homeroom class at all today, and today was picture day. His picture came out so horrible. He looks scared and it made me sad and sick to my stomach to look at it. I know that pose. Its the put your hands in your lap and stay there, pose. I will not be buying. I will say this, his aide from last year and I rarely saw eye to eye, but she sure could get him to take a good picture. Anyway, sorry to vent like this. Sometimes, i need to get it all out there before I take it to the school. Talking about it calms me to where I can be rational and beneficial to Noah when I bring it to the schools attention, and I will be doing so. Thanks for " listening " . :-) Leilani
