Guest guest
We love " What about Bob " . We use lines from it to help dd with her OCD sometimes. Like when he fakes a heart attack and says, " If I fake it then I don't have it " . Sometimes when dd gets worried that she is going to die or something I will tell her to fake it like Bob. She will fall down and " die " and it helps take the edge off. Also, my dd's *hero* is Donkey from Shrek. He seems to have OCD or some sort of anxiety disorder. We got her a large stuffed Donkey and at night I can hear her having support group sessions with Donkey and some other stuffed animals that have ADD, anxiety, etc. She even has an elephant with short term memory loss! I think kids need to know that they are not the only one. Also, mark down on your calenders Dec. 19 (I think) on Nickelodeon there is a special Nick News with Ellerbee that discusses OCD and other brain disorders in kids. Unfortunately Dr. Phil is on it, but I think he did a really nice job. He didn't say anything that I would disagree with or have a problem with. I will keep you posted as to date and time. Guest guest
Leonardo Di Caprio is on Oprah now talking about the Movie, Aviator. They showed a few scenes that deal with OCD and germophobia. Leo said he worked with Drs to learn about OCD and also lived with someone for a few days who has OCD to ask questions and learn why. One scene was a hand washing one, then another where a guy had a speck of something on his suit and could not remove it and then Leo talked about stepping on cracks and preparing for the role. Seems like another one to add to the list of movies - in theatre soon, that showcases OCD. Bonnie ==========
