I am 24 days away from my next vacation! We're going up to a state

park along the bay. It's a beautiful campground we don't do much

fishing, you really need to be equipped to do serious fishing in lake

michigan. Lots of hiking and biking and swimming. Only 4 days back

from vacation and I'm thinking about the next one... -dz-

Be patient. It is a slow process. Mine still bothers and I have trouble with cramping so have to streatch the ham-string and calf muscles often. When you get on therapy be sure you do your homework exercises faithfully. It isn't fun but that's what will get you back in shape.

Hello

I have a friend that is a successful child pyscologist with that. She seems to function very normally. She did indicate that she has some of the similar issues that I have with RA, i.e. if she is having a flare she would just as soon stay in bed on a sunny Saturday as get up (in fact, that is how she knows if she is in a flare). But the rest of her life seems to be fully functional.

Hi Emre,

Welcome to the list. Your English is wonderful and in any case, no one is

here to give you a grade - we are all here to share, ask questions and help.

I live on the third floor and I have to climb subway stairs everyday. I can

tell you that " practice " does NOT make it any easier. If anything, it

creates more joint and tendon damage to overuse sore feet, ankles, knees,

hips, etc. The ideal thing would be to get your mother on a good medicine

regimen (if possible) and perhaps for her to do some very light exercises

that are low impact (exercises in a swimming pool are outstanding).

Please don't be shy about asking questions. I'm very new here, but I can see

that this is truly a support group in every sense.

Best wishes,

Kathy

Emre - not sure I fully understood your question here - but steps are very

hard on me. I even told my employer when he builds the new building, if

there is no elevator, I cannot work for him. Luckily he put one in (I think

because of the building code rather than just for me though). Is there any

way to put your mother on just 1 floor? It would have to be where there is a

bathroom and hopefully some type of kitchen facility as well. Maybe a room

in the house is convertible into a bedroom/sitting area for her that she

would only have to go the stairs maybe once per day. You can always put a

small refridgerator and microwave in a bedroom to save trips to the kitchen

during the day.

I also have 3 floors - my laundry is on the 2nd floor with my bedroom - it's

a Godsend to have it like that. My kitchen is on the 1st floor though, and

I've never found a walker or cane very helpful on stairs.

Hope your mother is pain free today,

Yep, individual mails were scarey at first, coming home to 200 a day but it

does make for quicker reading if you go through and do the deleting

first..........I do this by sender rather than subject. This list is far too

valuable for me to drop out like I did before.............wasted 2 years :(

Hi Albert,

To be honest, I suspect your offer to be moderator and think it stems from anger

and frustration rather than a wish for peace and harmony. I believe in the love

Andy and Moira express by giving their time and expertise, to help us get our

children better. The people you appear to find offensive don't seem offensive to

me (with the exception of one person who I suspect might suffer from stress and

maybe toxicity as well and deserve forgiveness). I have a feeling that were you

to become moderator, we might loose the people most qualified to help from this

list. If we were lucky, they might move to a different list and take most people

with them. Also I believe when the issue of moderator has come up before, it was

pointed out that this list is actually owned by somebody, who would have the

right to make those decisions.

As far as I am concerned, the Delete button on each persons computer is the most

appropriate tool to deal with messages, which create anger, rather than taking

up the time of several hundreds of people who want to use this list for a

specific purpose.

Hi Dagmar,

I enjoyed reading your nice comments in about my offer

to be a moderator. My offer to be a moderator really is sincere, not

motivated by anger and frustration. I really do believe in love,

peace, and harmony. We just need to work together for the good of

our children. Albert

I detect a groundswell of popular opinion in favour of Albert as

moderator.

Albert, I was wrong. You have set a fine example of Christian

tolerance, forbearance, compassion and charity. You are a fine

advertisement for your faith.

I believe Albert's appointment would lead to greater harmony and more

purposeful debate, raising the tone of the group immeasurably.

I agree wholeheartedly!!!

The silent majority is probably silent because the bad posts are so

offensive. I just can't be bothered with anything but raising my family and

helping my 8 year old daughter get better. This list has been wonderful for

me, but the other stuff that gets posted about religion, politics, personal

vendettas, etc. is really not to my liking.

I'm sorry but I don't detect any " groundswell " , in fact just the opposite. The

silence you hear on this topic is everyone not wanting to state their opinion

because they fear they will upset Albert again. No one wants to hurt his

feelings because he tends to over-react to everything.

A moderator needs to be, primarily, objective and level-headed. Take a look at

Albert's posts (especially #70194) and I don't think you will find he is a good

candidate.

I think we will be fine without a moderator. Issues will flare up and die down,

and people will learn (hopefully) to ignore inflammatory remarks or opinions.

It's just the nature of this type of open-exchange and we have to accept the bad

with the good. Censorship will inhibit the flow of information more than the

fear of a negative response to a question or remark.

We need to put our egos aside and just get on with the purpose of this list and

try to share information about healing our children.

It's so hard to get people to just listen to the possibilities of mercury and

chelation in the first place. I hate to think of the new members who are

turned-off by the bickering and choose to not learn about chelation. Their

children may have no other chance than this.

Hi , welcome aboard!

Like yourself, I started with scalp psoriasis at an early age and arthritis

settled in my teens. By the time I was 20 things started to get really bad,

quickly. The stress of university compounded that, worsening my arthritis.

One thing that I didn't do until near the end of my studies was to arrange

for extra time on exams. Dealing with 'brain fog' and swollen fingers and

most importantly, the stress of a three-hour exam just made everything

worse. When I was allowed an extra hour for exams, everything was a lot

better. Nearly all of the exams were not time constrained anyway, because

either you knew the material or you didn't.

I'm now 30 and I'm doing just great, so glad to have all of that behind me

now! Hang in there... and keep reading this list!

Welcome . My P really started in college. Looking back, I can see

periods where I probably had episodes of PA. The P covered my eyes every

semester during finals. I also had the " hit by a truck " feeling during that

time, but just figured I was tense when I went to sleep thinking about all

the grades!

College is a time of emotional ups and downs. I would suggest finding a

Yoga class and learning to control that stress in a healthy way. It may

help you stay in your current healthy condition.

Good luck.

Hey ,

I am 20 years old and a college student at Tulane in New Orleans. (I

am from NY) I to dealt with all the crazy diagnosis' in early high

school (started at 14 as well) It's a crazy road to deal with when

you are just beginning to figure out who you are. I would love to

talk about any of this so feel free to email me. I know it's scary-

gosh knows I have wanted to transfer home so badly sometimes but you

make it through somehow. A good friend of mine once told me that

maybe we got this so young because somehow it will make us stronger

people. I certainly feel strong now-I don't think I would have

developed into the same person without the PA.
