My parotids grew fast also. They usually hurt when they were growing. And I would also feel that area getting hotter. I agree with , it is an immune response. Biopsies have shown large quantities of CD8 cells accumulating in the gland tissue.

I see so many guys with this problem and want to talk to them about radiation treatment, since most probably do not know. But I have been told it is not cool to approach someone even with information that could help them. People may get offended. I wish there was a "cool" way to do it. This is a constant struggle for me not only when it comes to helping others with this problem, but also with facial wasting, wasting, and other conditions.Regards, Vergelpowerusa dot org

Re: parotid curiousity

I'm interested to know how those of us who had the misfortune of having swollen parotids had the swelling occur. In my case, I was driving alone in my car and I felt one side of my face heat up and when I looked in the rear-view mirror I could see it swell up before my eyes.. I figured it was some kind of food reaction so I drove to the nearest emergency room and while I was there the other half swelled up about 45 minutes later.. Of course the ER didn't know what it was and there it remained until I had radiation with Dr. Gordon about 4-5 yrs later. and now no more swollen parotids.. I"m curious to know if others had a similar event like mine or how did yours occur....
