We are loving summer! The boys are having fun boating, swimming at the pool and swimming at the beach. had a classmate over yesterday to play. His classmate was asking what he liked and I told him pizza, ice cream, swimming, boating, etc.. And his freind said, "He's just like me." Oh, inclusion works!

The boys are eight and like to help me in the kitchen. I use Boardmaker Plus to help make visuals to help them use the microwave to make the foods they like. They are independent in making popcorn and heating up pasta that has been pre-cooked and placed in the refrigerator.

I'm so proud of them. They picked up on using the microwave very quickly and love the visuals.

I've included 2 examples of pictoral instructions I've made for them. I use a similar format for a recipe for oatmeal raisin cookies, that the boys help me make. To work on their counting skills I have them measure 6 -1/4 cups instead of measuring a cup and a half, etc... Since it's summer and we are home and in the kitchen more, and working on visual instructions for microwaving hot dogs, and mashed potatoes, making pizza etc...

Have a great summer.
