Guest guest
My new grandson was born we'd nite at 9:20, dischargedToday. Birth wt was 8.7 , discharged at 7.11, has good volumePoops, stil greenish yellow. Feeds often, latch is good and not Painful, mom is not engorged and not feeling "full" nor does sheFeel softening after feeding but she can express milk manuallyAnd leaks from opposite side when he feeds. I'm away at a confAnd can't help. Do you think it's just early and he'll be fine? NoJaundice. Falls asleep at breast but relaxed not tight fisted.Ilene , nervous first time grandma!Sent from my iPod I have very strong opinions on this subject and not many of them positive. I will leave it at this: To do a thorough job, in my not so humble opinion, one must actually TOUCH the baby – look at the baby in person – look at mom – get a much better view of what mom is doing in person than can be accomplished (imo) via webcam. One cannot feel tight muscles, or do a sweep for T-T, or see just how out of alignment a babies body is without TOUCHING them. To do a thorough and appropriate job as an IBCLC we must be with the mom and baby in person. As a very last resort, when the distance is too great, or there is simply NO other IBCLC available, then OK…webcam. But as a general rule or a commonplace thing?? NO. Warmly and respectfully… Jaye Simpson, IBCLC, CIIM Breastfeeding Network Sacramento, CA www.breastfeedingnetwork.net
