Here in his public school, the teacher gets him involved with something - usually making a phone call) to distract him. The boy with Asperger's who lived with us would often laugh out loud and for long for no apparent reason. People with Tourette's also laugh inappropriately. I think it is just another kind of TIC. No research tells me that, just the observations I have made.
