Guest guest
Logan is chelating and using enzymes (as most here are tired of hearing about). In my opinion the enzymes are good support for the gut while chelating for many reasons, but the main one being that the Pep has glutamine. I would say that the enzymes have done the most good in healing Logan's leaky gut. I think this because his poops are now fully digested and he has no food reactions any more. He also gets milk thistle for liver support, glutathione, and nystatin to keep yeast in check. All of these are good for healing the gut AND chelating. I don't think the gut can be COMPLETELY healed before starting chelation, because the metals will keep causing the gut problems (and this might be why you're having such a hard time of it), but if you have a good handle on the gut issues with the right supplements, then the chelation shouldn't make the gut worse and it will eventually heal up for good. I hope this helps in some way. Kaye > We have just recieved our son's first heavy metals test results today. We > also did a urine test but have not recieved the results back in. I thought you really had to get the kid healthy before you could go to chelation. I have looked into the chelating thing, but because the boys are doing so well now, I opted for detox the slow way. I agree with Kaye in that everything I read says that it is better to be " healthier " before chelation, but that you cannot get completely better or completely heal the gut because the metals are causing a bunch of the problems. Maybe this is to mean get yeast/bacteria overgrowth under control (not completely eliminated), have a detox and vitamin support program in place and other things. The enzymes should help to override the some of the effects of the metals and help in gut healing. One of the reasons a gut gets leaky in the first place is due to insufficiently digested proteins. . Guest guest
Hi Donna, I'm doing both with my 10 year old. We've done 4 rounds of chelation and 3 weeks of the enzymes so far. I think the enzymes seem to be working well. I'm not so sure about the chelation at this point. It has been a neutral experience so far. We will be doing a stool sample with our next round to see how much he is excreting. If you have questions I'd be happy to try to answer anything I can. Guest guest
If you are looking for a germanium supplement, AMNI (Advanced Medical Nutrition INc.) puts out a sublingual that's great for kids who don't take capsules or tablets easily. Website is www.douglaslabs.com. We've been using the 150 mg size once daily for more than ten years. And whenever we'd take it away, we'd see regresssion or hyperactivity. Hope this helps a bit. Joan [ ] heavy metals We have just recieved our son's first heavy metals test results today. We also did a urine test but have not recieved the results back in. The test was done through Great Plains, and Doctor's Data. High in arsenic, uranium, and nickel. Antimony, lead, tin are borderline. Very low on magnesium, manganese, selenium, germanium. His zinc/Cd ratio was very high. High in the yellow on sodium, potassium, molybdenum, boron. Does anyone know of more sources for uranium? We've not done any mercruy provoking or chelation yet. Guest guest
Kaye, This is Donna C in NC. I was reading post of Donna in TX. I really did not know anything about heavy metals . Are ya'll saying that the leaky gut causes absorption of heavy metals that possibly could have gotten leaky because of heavy metals. And now that they are there they prevent the gut from healing? Is there anything naturally you can do to help this. We are on day 4 of enzymes and I think I see a whisper of an improvement. Seem like the talking versus fighting ratio between my two youngest is better . I also think I have heard more normal voice during the day. He is still a little hyper. Especially towards the late afternoon. No bed wetting because I keep getting him up early. hehe. Besides my 7 year old my oldest (19) is trying them to see if they help chronic allergies , asthma amd stomach trouble. He has really been sick . Is it possible to feel really sick with reaction? We went to DR and he advised my son to keep a food diary. I am sorry got off subject.I would like to see some good sites on heavy metal if you know some.
Guest guest
Donna, Concerning your older son, it could be a reaction depending on what kind of symptoms he is reporting. It is common to have some diarrhea at first and/or mild stomachaches. What are his symptoms? I had mild stomachaches after each dose of enzymes for about two weeks. > Kaye, This is Donna C in NC. Everything checked out finr on lab tests at dr. I think we will keep on them and see what happens. Thanks Donna

I think it is something in the body does not process the metals correctly to detox it and you can get heavy metal build-up from a variety of sources. One effect of too much metals is they inhibit the digestive enzymes, particularly the ones the degrade casein. Because the foods are insufficiently broken down, this irritates and weakens the gut lining. This is one way to get leaky gut. Another way is from yeast or bacteria overgrowth. I am not sure if you had a leaky gut first, this would cause absorbtion of metals which then continues the downhill cycle. The sites Kaye listed should recommend some natural ways to help this besides enzymes (vitamin C for example is a natural chelator). Also there is a group autism treatment that deals with this: . Guest guest
> Hi, > Arent the heavy metals mixed in with the silicone major contributors > to many of the problems? Leda, It is thought that platinum is a major culprit. Platinum is very toxic! If you look at the symptoms associated with other heavy metal toxicity, such as mercury, cadmium, nickel, etc., you will find many of the same symptoms as we display. Guest guest
Yes, there are several. You can get tested through many naturopathic medical doctors clinics, when asking specifically for heavy metals tests, and some will use different labs. Mine was done through MetaMetrix Clinical Labs in Norcross, Georgia. It was a 24 hour urine test, and I did a baseline test followed by a DMSA challenge. You can see MetaMetrix's website here: http://www.metametrix.com/ It used to be a much more comprehensive website. I will see if I can find the websites of the other labs I know have tested for this. Dr. Kolb may also be able to answer this question more thoroughly. Guest guest
We use hair analysis for screening. Please call Vicki at 770-390-0012 for prices and instructions on how to do this. This test can be mailed to you. . ----- Original Message ----- From: Patty <fdp@...> < > Sent: Saturday, November 03, 2001 12:55 AM Subject: Re: heavy metals > Yes, there are several.
