Not to rain on your parade, but I would have a hard time comparing anything fitness-related to anyone in Hollywood. I could look like a million bucks too if I could spend half a day in the gym and have enough $$$ for plastic surgery and the like. Guest guest
Maybe THAT'S my problem with these last few pounds.....I started it at 29 and it was a "breeze".......now that I'm 30...... Sandie, Tae and Bo Re: Re: question of the week (Long) << I don't mean to discourage you, , but once you hit your 30's it's all over as far as weight loss goes! >>What is it about the number 30 that just causes our bodies to stop responding as well as they used to?? LOL! I'm 31 and am having a harder time losing weight this time around. My boss keeps telling me that "as young as I am, I will be in great shape in no time". Yea, right! If it gets worse as we age, I'm in serious trouble! :-)who is glad she started working out, but should have started much soonerAs Deb has said: "Fitness is a journey and it begins with the first step.""This isn't about weight loss, it's about enlightenment" -Visit our new vault site http://taeboon.isportsdotcom/
Guest guest
Thank you Ann Marie for the reality check. I thought of the whole Hollywood connection after I posted. However, in my defense....as I said I am a big fan of this actress and she IS very fitness oriented. She has been featured on the cover of Walking Magazine and actually met her now husband in a gym - she had just got in from a flight and went right to the gym to workout all jet-lagged and everything. Now that is motivation! > > If you ever doubt you can't have a great body after 30, check out > > that actress -Teri Polo- who is that new Ben Stiller movie " Meet > the > > Parents " . She is 32. Guest guest
Ummm...I was 43 when I started weight watchers...I've lost 70 pounds and have kept it off for two years. I think one's ability to lose weight when over 30 or 40 or whatever is contingent on genetics, metabolism rate, and diet (what combination of carbs/fats/proteins works best for one's body type or individual needs). Actually, with the exception of the loose skin in the mid- to lower abdominal area, at 46, my body looks the best it ever has. Don't despair! ;-) F > > I also have people telling > > me that it should be easier for me to lose weight because I > am " young " . Guest guest
No problem! I can certainly appreciate your respect for the actress. I'm sure that out of all the Hollywood phonies, there are a handful that ARE truly healthy and value it more than any quick-fix a plastic surgeon can offer. We hear so much about air-brushed photos and all the other quick-fixes that stereotype these actors/actresses. Wow - that sure IS motivation! :-D > > > If you ever doubt you can't have a great body after 30, check out > > > that actress -Teri Polo- who is that new Ben Stiller movie " Meet > > the > > > Parents " . Guest guest
Wow ! That's wonderful you've been able to take the weight off and keep it off for so long. With Tae-Bo it'll NEVER come back! You must be the exception to the rule. ;-) Ann Marie > > > I also have people telling > > > me that it should be easier for me to lose weight because I > > am " young " . Guest guest
Ann Marie- I'm sorry if I got all defensive and testy on you yesterday about this whole matter. I was having a bad day and I KNOW BETTER than to let it show in my posts. After I pushed send, I felt guilty and then it bothered me for the rest of the night. Thanks for understanding and please forgive me?! And, thank you for understanding where I was coming from, too. Guest guest
Jen, Hey - not a problem! No apology needed because I didn't take your post in a negative light at all. That's what's great about these discussion groups because everyone can talk about something in a civilized manner and not get bent out of shape because of someone's opinion. On the other side of the coin, I want to apologize to you and to everyone here for having a seemingly negative opinion on the age and celebrity subject. I'm usually a pretty positive person but we all hit bumps in the road of life occasionally. I understand that we need to support each other with positive tones, not negative ones. Please be assured that I was extending my thoughts and experiences on the subject and it wasn't meant to be judgemental or demeaning in any way.
