My son is Aspergers/ADHD and takes Concerta. It has made a WORLD of difference in him, especially at school. He is able to focus enough to do his work, sit still and even have a playmate. I would say if there is no problem with combining the meds it is worth a try to see if it helps.
Guest guest
Hi Pam, My son (91/2 yrs.) is on a low dose of Risperdol in the evening and the lowest does of Concerta in the mornings. I don't think he is ADHD but he has all the sensory issues and processing delays and it really helps him concentrate. Eating issues counter act each other too. You just have to experiment and see what works for you. He is as yet undiagnosed, probably mild AS and anxiety. He does have ADHD characteristics also, and I would really like to help him concentrate, but I have avoided the stimulants so far. Reconsidering this though, as I have a feeling they could help. Is is common to take a stimulant and anti-anxiety med at the same time, and if so,are there combinations that you all have tried? thanksPam
Guest guest
Thanks for the responses. I will talk to the doctor about this. It seems that it may work out--I didn't know if they would counteract each other. He definitely needs something to help him focus---I just don't want to aggravate the anxiety. He has the sensory issues and the processing delays also. Thanks again.
