Guest guest
nah is 11 and wrote this poem regarding her ocd. I thought it did a wonderful job of explaining what is going on in her head! Blessings, tammy OCD by nah It hangs around in my mind like a black cloud. Its slithering self makes me have thoughts of a horrible sort... thoughts of not loving mom, stealing, then going to court..... It creeps up and says to me, " Hi! I'm OCD! " I try so hard to sweep it away I try so hard this very day. I have words that aren't mine pop up right into my mind. Whenever it touches me I feel cold all over. When it says its evil lies, I want to give up. But then I remember I've got Jesus on my side He and I will make OCD run and HIDE So as I battle this monster in my mind I always feel like I want to cry. But there is something, something, a glimmer of hope....a door in the wall....The One thing I need most of all..... JESUS. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Guest guest
Tammy, Thanks so much for sharing this poem. I will probably print it and share it with my 12 year old son. I just want him to know and understand that there are others out there struggling with this same monster (OCD). I have a couple of comments. First, it's overwhelming to read this poem and feel her anguish. I just hate that our children have to suffer like this. But, then secondly, you should be very proud of her. (which I know you are) She has an incredible faith in Jesus. Wow! How awesome is that for her age. Praise God! Corinna, TX

How is she doing with fighting OCD? Is she on meds; ERP? Blessings back at you- (Ohio)

Effective exposures would acclimate your daughter to the idea that she *was* actually rude, *does* truly hate God (or whatever her scrupe worry is) and etc.--whatever her worries are that she asks reassurance for. Successful ERP could reduce/eliminate the bad thoughts and relieve the anxiety they cause. If the therapist is suggesting cutting back on visits, it may be that she feels she has helped your daughter as much as she can. What does the prescribing doctor say about the therapist's idea of a med holiday? Take care, Kathy R. in Indiana
