Guest guest
*HUGS* I'm so sorry that you're in this situation, you don't need it. If work was making me that ill & I knew I was leaving I'd probably go off sick and simply not go back - it's really not worth your health. If work and projects are left undone what can they do to you? Fire you? that means nothing so try to stop worrying about it and concentrate on looking after yourself first and foremost. I used to be sooo consciencious with work till an old jobbing plumber asked me 'what can they (employers) take away from you?' and after some conversation and his amused face his answer was 'nothing but bits of green paper''they can't take your skills away, your experience, what you've learnt, your qualifications, your hands, feet or any other body part, your friends or family in short nothing of true value, OK it might be difficult for a while till you get another job but they can't take anything away from you' That made me realise that NO job is worth more than things like your health, sanity and they only 'control' you if you allow them to. Now I can choose how much I 'give' to my job and I mostly feel like I have control over most factors in my job, I don't even bother 'rising' to my bitching Boss, who has be bl**dy vicious recently, cos in the whole of my life plan it simply doesn't matter! Now you get off to LA and I want full details of everything that happens cos I can't be there with you all, so you'd better have a great time (or else *LOL*) on my behalf Jill who wishes that everyone would learn you can get so much more out of people you work, with by earning their respect and simply not p*ssing them off! > My last day of work is October 31st. That means 17 more full working days. I really don't know if I can make it. I spent a good portion of the day running to the bathroom to cry or scream and vent. Guest guest
Ok Let me re-phrase that first line (OK I can't spell sentence?!*LOL*) 'They can't take you self-esteem away unless you let them' or 'They can't take your self-esteem away unless you give it to them' You went straight to the point Barb. What I described was the most memorable incident that marked my turning point in my attitude toward work, as you said would be better served by doing the same. Jill who hopes Barb realises the first bit is TOTALLY tongue-in-cheek *LOL* > they can take your self-esteem from you if you let them though > heaping more of a demand on you than a person can complete well > but that is their problem, not yours!!! > I believe what is hurting is her own work ethic and her need to do > something as perfect as possible > Employers take advantage of this kind of work ethic and waste it instead of > cultivating it > > Barb > whose whole family suffers from work ethic and taking jobs too seriously, > more seriously than their employers
Guest guest
Thank you Barb and Jill, Believe me I have thought about using my sick time but I need the good recommendation. She is a very powerful person in Texas politics. If I can survive the next 17 days, all will be right with the world. I really felt better after writing that e-mail. Next I should write a big vent about my husband lol. Who took care of herself last night.

The important thing right now is to take care of you! Try to relax and hang in there for these next few weeks! Don't let them stress you out! And most importantly, don't give them power by letting them get to you! I'll give you a big hug tomorrow when I meet you at your gate
