Guest guest
Hello to all, I am seeking ideas to stop or re-direct banging. I can ignore it at home, but at school Em is banging on the board (easel) so hard that she is knocking it over – which then becomes a health & safety issue so she will be removed from class if it continues. Teacher needs the board to hang stuff on and teach from. It has been fixed so it doesn’t collapse anymore but will still tip. It has been put outside the class when not in use but Miss Em finds it and bangs on it out there. Banging is also on desk, side of cabinet, door, any wall when walking past. (on the positive side she is not slamming and opening doors anymore). The noise of the banging is disruptive so ignoring is not possible. Another “thing” is spitting – it becomes a H & S issue (cause for removal). I think this is a frustration and/or temper thing. Next term goal is to get Em to raise her hand and ask for help, also using a HELP card. As well as introducing a I NEED A BREAK card. I welcome any comments or suggestions, as I want Em in the class as much as possible with no reasons for removal. She was in a new respite place for 2 days this week and they said there was NO spitting at all and hardly any banging. So it is possible. Perhaps if we got a trampoline and some chickens in the class ??? Thanks, Annette in Australia (Em is 8 yrs old in gr 2 at regular school and loves going each day ds/pdd-nos 30% hearing loss) --------------------------------- On Yahoo!7 Fuel Price Watch: Find the cheapest petrol in your area
