My son is Gareth, 18 y/o, with DS/Autism/OCD. We live in Lancaster county, Pa. Did you know for some time that was autistic or did the dx come as a surprise/shock. I knew there was something 'else' wrong with Gareth but I still cried when told it was autism. Prayers, please......Yesterday morning, I weighed Gareth after his shower.....148 lbs!!! I knew he had lost weight, but that is almost 8-10 #s since July and he hasn't been on any diet. I called the Dr to get him early for his Nov. physical and they said to bring him in at 3:10. No messing around here!!! He had blood drawn for thyroid, CD (again!!!), chem panel, sed rate, the whole nine yards. When I questioned why they had to do another CD test, he said that CD can show up at any time........even after he's had that 'definitive negative' a year ago?!?!? He's got a appt to see the gastro doc in Oct.....we will check about that. He's only 5'4 " , so at 148 #, that is good, but I still want to know why he dropped the weight all of a sudden. It's a new med she started a few weeks ago. Please keep us posted on what's going on with Mr. G!!!
