I wish I did.

I " m on the hunt though not as intensely as I " m sure

you are.

As the " top " of the limitations seems to lift, I worry

those of us at the other end of the spectrum will be

forgotten. Our kids learn all their lives too.

Sara,

I don't know of a central site, but I do know of a few here in the Houston

area. Maybe we should start a site! If everyone here knows of a couple in

their area we could build something truly useful to the community.

I only FEEL 221. I meant to type 21 yo. I have found some residential

villages but I would like to know if there are other options possible.

Elie could do with another few years of school . After all, the main

definition for RETARDED is S L O W !! He has learned so much this year

and will learn more this coming year, but he needs more time to become more

functional.

In Houston, The Center Serving Persons with Mental Retardation has a vocational

training program downtown, as well as a daycare type program for

lower-functioning adults. There is also a program called REACH which I believe

does some vocational programs. The private school my daughter attends is called

The Arbor, and it is in their plans when they expand in the next couple of years

to have a job progam for adults with disabilities too, making tiles or something

like that. The Brookwood Community in hire, TX has some residential, and

some day workers, they grow garden products and pottery stuff.
