Guest guest
Hi, Everyone....Jane...welcome to the group. My son, Gareth, is 17 with DS/autism/OCD and a few medical quirks thrown in to keep me on my toes. It's a relief to find out that you are not alone on the road you're traveling......there are a lot of 'Jordys' out there!!! <<We started Isaiah on Prozac in July and finally started to see some changes.... He's much more cooperative and his anxiety is not as bad. He's putting more words together, although still very basic sentences. The biggest issue is still fire alarms.>> ....I don't know what it is about the meds, but a lot of us have found that our kids start 'talking' more after being on them. Gareth was the same way. Granted, he never really got past the 2-3 word sentences, but at least he can 'talk' now. As for fire alarms....we had a run on that a while ago. Gareth was always bad with them, too. His aide took him out early in one district; in another, they let him 'run' ahead to get out quickly instead of filing out in an orderly fashion with the rest of the kids; in another they had heavy headphones to put on his ears once the ringing started. Today, he is in 11th grade and they don't bother him too much. We use to live in Brea, Ca. My boys loved Knott's Berry farm....they always wanted to go there over Disney. <<We're still in the process of 's assessments for Autism. I just am wondering, how do you handle it all? I just feel like a horrible mother, like I have not done enough work with her at home, or that I am to blame for this. >> .....you are not a horrible Mom. We all go through the guilt....I still do anyways. I am sitting here at the computer while Gareth is in his own little world.....listening to his music and watching church on TV. Heck....I should be praying with him!!! a...what is MRSA? I love the ranting.....feel better ; - ) How is handling the Serquel....I mean, do you see better results. Liz....I live in Pa.....but you know that!!! Peggy....I, too, need to find out more about Abilify. G's ped. psych wants me to put G on it because his Prolactin level has been rising the past 6 months......secondary to the Risperdal. If I keep him on the Risperdal, he get boobs. I don't think that's the way to go!!! He's been on Risperdal for 7 1/2 yrs. Take care, Everyone. Margaret
