Guest guest
Ready Set Go Not as short as you might think. I was only suggesting we treat each other with civility and not serve to further divide our community. 'There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it.' > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
Fortunately, we have some very knowledgeable folks on this list who can see through the junk posts and even post the truth. Guest guest
,I was wondering tonight whether Al Gore's book, The Assault on Reason, may have made a bit of a difference in this election. The election isn't quite over yet, but,... I find it wonderful that there was such an increase in voter turnout. I guess that could have happened for various reasons. Al Gore encouraged younger generations to care more about what was happening politically, but at the same time, it could be that people were voting in droves because they were fed up with the present government. Anyway, if any of you have the time or inclination, reading or listening to Gore's The Assault on Reason is a worthwhile experience, or at least, I found it to be so.AasaP.S., Celebrating tonight (hopefully not too prematurely!!)!! You call this humor?!? I call it mean spirited! > > > > > > > This tv report is alarming. > > Be sure to watch all of them. > > http://www.youtube. com/watch? v=p_HZMD97nMw <http://www.youtube. com/watch? v=p_HZMD97nMw> > > Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin, presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. > > According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171, During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over t he heart. > > 'As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides,' Obama said. Guest guest
Totally agree with you. Let's not ..."serve to further divide our community." Just a suggestion - now that the election is over -take a look at some of your posts over the last 30 days. Divisive? "You betch ya!"(Wink)
