Guest guest Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 <<If/when you wean Sophie off GF, after about a month I'd recommend you retest her for celiac. I think your doctor is misinformed about method of diagnosis. If her celiac panel is positive, you need to confirm the dx via biopsy. Don't wait for her to show symptoms before doing the biopsy.>> Hi, Everyone....Lisette...if you go the bx. route, you have to have the bx. BEFORE you start the diet for it to be accurate. If the blood Ig A is high, then they may recommend the bx. or you can follow your feelings and start the diet. You can have a high blood test (pos) and a negative bx. We are on that road now. Gareth does not show any symptoms or damage from gluten, but his blood IgA is high. If you start the diet on your own and, then, decide you want bx's down the road to confirm CD, then you have to put her back on gluten foods for X number of months before the bx. will be accurate. Take care, Everyone. Margaret Quote
Guest guest Posted March 2, 2005 Report Posted March 2, 2005 Hi Lisette, I have no doubt that the teacher is feeling very insecure herself. I would write to her what works and what doesn't with Sophie. Whatever you can teach her will help her teach Sophie. You need to find a common ground and work together. You are fortunate that her classmates and parents accept her so well, build on that. Charlyne Mom to Zeb 12 DS/OCD/ASD? Quote
