Hi All,

I was just catching up on the list. We flew to Alaska for Christmas.

First, Donna, I loved your Christmas story and yes, I grew up in Anchorage

in a big Irish Catholic family. It's just like the rest of the USA with

malls and subdivisions except everywhere there are beautiful mountains and

moose eat the trees in your yard. Despite cancelled flights and lost

luggage, did very well on the plane and in the airport. She acted

like a little grownup on the plane, flipping through magazines while sipping

a soda. It was adorable. She carried her own backpack and pulled her own

suitcase too. The only meltdown came on the way back when her luggage did

not come. Of course it would be her bag that they lost.

It was a mistake to take her to my niece's wedding though. I was running

around helping all day and I came back, threw her in the bath and got her

all dressed up, even with a little makeup and whisked her out the door.

Only then did I find out that DH had not fed her all day long. Then I

noticed her ear was draining. So the moral of the story is never take a

starving child with an ear infection to a wedding. It will not end well.

At my mom's house, she had her own bedroom set up as a safe haven where she

could retreat, which she did a lot, especially when the house was full of

people. The only place she ventured was the media room to watch movies and

the living room to look at the tree. The only problem we had was a fight

with her three y.o. cousin over a Woody doll. I think she thought it was

hers but hers was back in Seattle.

Her big hit presents were a Fisher Price Doodle Pro and a Video Now player.

Sherry, I'm glad the panties are working. started her cycle yesterday

too. I will think of you when I'm washing all the extra laundry ).

My mom gave me the nicest Christmas present ever. She funded a special

needs trust for . It will pay for 12 hours of respite per week until

she turns 18. At 18, it can be used for things that SSI won't cover. It was

such a thoughtful, generous gift. I don't know how I will ever be able to

thank her.

Therese, wow, what an adventure for you! Welcome home. Unfortunately our good

luck with jamie only lasted for a few hours and she is back to removing the

pants every time I leave her room. I am SOOOOO frustrated with this I don't know

what to do.

Your mom has given you such a gift- my God, how grateful you must be. I have

never understood however how husbands can " forget " to feed kids all day. Mine

has done this often. he will become upset because is moaning and groaning

and i will ask him if he has fed her. Big DUH- oooops, I forgot (??!!)
