I'm getting conflicting responses and hoped somebody here can clarify for me. Can elevated pyruvate indicate or support the diagnosis of aquired mitochondrial dysfunction and/or heavy metal toxicity? If so, where can I look for material to support that?

Thank you,

Thank you for your response Dr. Fudenburg, but can you suggest any specifically? I've since gone to our University library and the librarian in science and technology helped me search with no success. She said if I can get a specific resource she could do an inter-library search and request it for me.

I contacted the MMS and received a quick response that elevated pyruvate alone does not indicate mito dysfunction. If this is the case, I'm guessing you meant I should be looking for the elevated pyruvate/mercury toxicity link?

If you or anyone else has a specific resource for this info, I'm still looking for verification.

Thank you again,
