Guest guest
Beckie...Thank you for sharing your poem with us and congratulations! When I was a thirteen-year-old I visited an art gallery in Edinburgh, Scotland. There was a large beautiful stormy seascape in one of the rooms. It was painted in rather dark gloomy colours. But a ray of light came down through the black clouds and rested on the body of a man, who had apparently been washed up onto some rocks and lay dying. I was totally mesmerized and quite moved by the impact of that painting, to such an extent that I came home and wrote this.. Oh, invincible death... Thy perfumed breath Breathes ecstasy upon my weary heart Come, abide with me a while Drink up my listless blood And let us to a better land depart. Remember I was only thirteen at the time, which accounts for the melodramatic writing style. I just thought that I would share this with you Becky because in this instance and in my mind death came as a welcoming friend. Off the subject of bronchiectasis I know. So glad that you are doing well with your new lungs. How active are you these days? in Ca.

I wrote it late one night in the hospital when I was very very ill. I had been taken to the hospital via ambulance and almost ended up on a vent. That was back in 2002.My friend had also just died of CF. I submitted my poems to a couple of places just for the heck of it to see if anyone thought they were good. Death be Not Proud . . . Death Be Not Proud We Stand before you Naked in your Darkness. The Smell of Death Cloaks us in the Still of the Moonlight. Only the Ragged Sounds of our Breath Pierce the Quiet Night. We do not call upon you. We do not want your dark embrace. We loath you with every painful breath we endure. Every loss we must witness. Every Tear we must shed. Can you not see this? Why must you come? What is your reward? Is it Pain or is it the End of Suffering? Are you Proud of our Loath? OR do you Pity our Pain? We know the Cost of your Pity. We know the Cost of your Pride. We wish not to be your companion. We wish for you not to be our guide. Can you hear us? Can you feel our Pride? For we will Endure Until our last breath has be robbed. And our last prayer has been answered. We will Endure. DEATH be NOT PROUD. Guest guest
Congrats on getting your poem published, its often when your emotions are running wild, that you are most creative in these things, I to have writen a few poem's, other than one about the real meaning of xmas christmas, that was suposed to be published in an american poem book, but since it was too costly to send for it back to the UK, don't know if it ever was published as they said it would be, or not. it wasn't anything special and made it up on the spur of the moment. I can certainly see why yours was published, it is realy good, how you have written it. well done.
